I dont understand why ppl like to mod thier cars.

Why dont they just buy that better car ?

becoz not everyone are so lich like u mar.... by adding mod, over a long period of time is more affordable than buying a better car [laugh]

those who dont understand why people mod their cars are probably not petrol heads themselves

Its not that we are not petrol heads but the fact is that if I own a Mitsu GLX, it doesn't make sense to buy parts and built and EVO out of it. It will be more cost efficient to just get the EVO than risking getting caught with illegal mods.

like that how to trust STA evaluation grade A pre-owned car?

exactly

if the staff can take bribery for mod-cars, they can take bribery for any other resale cars - mod or original

the test report they issue for each resale car inspection is not trustworthy anymore if the accused staff are charged and found guilty

still want to charge $120

blardy hell

simply no $$$. so buy a Mitsu GLX...mod it till it look like a EVO race car.

also can buy a impreza, mod till it look like WRX.

if got $$, they will buy the real thing

wrong...even if they got money buy the real thing, they will still mod if not you won't see so many evos, wrxes at garages and garages like ST power, LTM, GR can close down already... its more of a hobby or passion.

the driver can always say illegal modifications were added after inspection

or illegal modifications were removed before going for inspection and restored back again after inspection

so you cant really tell if the inspector did hide or not, cos it could have been a very different car during inspection

if the samething happened in the same inspection centre and the same group of inspectors?...isn't it fishy?

some dealers can also bribe them to give an A grade.

Turbocharged

Even before I bought my car, I was already told that some inspection centres' ratings are more 'credible' than others. I'm not surprised this centre is being probed.

Ya, finally someone who understands....modding is a way of self-expression, some may mod more on aesthetics with all kind of bodykits, rims and stickers until cannot see wad is the original colour of the car, other focus on performance and thei engine bay look like accesories shop, some can spend $10k on ICE and louder than Zouk, others put so many bling inside their car they never need to on their headlights....at the end the owner mods it to his liking.....for them, a totally stock car seems to have no personality....
