FR on Toyo C1S

Short FR on the Toyo C1S

 

Size : 205/55 R16

Rim : Stock

 

Installed it this afternoon at a shop near to Geylang police station.

 

1. Straight drive (SLE) dry road at 125 kmh no problem.

2. Evening driving in the rain going over puddles of water with no aquaplaning felt.

2. During cornering, it does not skittle over road undulations.

3. No slippage (Wet)

4. Very willing to move off from stand still.

5. It steering angle is sharp & precise with minimal steering effort.

6. A little bounce when going over hump (might be my air pressure)

7. Quiet level is surprisingly good (120kmh - dry)

8. Comfort level is good.

9. Hard braking distance -yet to try-

Hi, thanks for your FR.

A couple of questions to clarify:

1) What speed were you going over puddles of water?

2) In assessing the comfort level as good, could you provide a comparison with other tyres you've used?

eg. as comfortable as Tyre X; more comfortable than Tyre Y

 

Pretty convincing report so far ..

Just got my Toyo C1S in 235/50R18 today.

Existing CSC3 has been getting noisy and a few cracks on the surface.

Could see a band appearing in the centre tread and got worried.

Lasted about 40k.

 

So far so good. Most impressive about C1S is the noise level.

Handling on par with CSC3 but the latter still has superior braking performance.

I think after run-in, your tires should perform better. Do let us know further if you can.

Can tell how much each cost & where u buy.

 

Im looking for 205/45 or 50/16 so need an indication on the price otherwise I prob get PP2 on my next tire change.

2 days on ..

 

Noise and comfort are better than CSC3, even when they were new.

I have tried cornering at a faster speed (eg. BKE slip road to SLE). Tyre wall is higher so there is more flexing when cornering. These aspects are difficult to compare because profile is different (235/50 vs 245/45).

 

Tyre tread is less stiff, so more cushioned effect over humps and strips on the road.

Uneven road still creates bumpiness and slightly more noise, but expected as suspension is stock.

 

Steering response is better than CSC3, but I think Bridgestone tyres are still the best in this area.

Still running in. Stay tuned.

 

For those interested, I paid $285/pc (cash price) from Arrow Tyres for 235/50R18.

Only tyre balancing, no alignment and no nitrogen. I think this price is decent for the bare necessities.

Want more services, gotta pay more [laugh]

speed was at 90km/hr running over puddles of water..

comfort level - better than my previous kumho & BS re001...

Latest update on C1S:

 

- braking performance had been smooth but nowhere near the levels of UHP or Max perf tyres like my previous CSC3. On checking the online brochure, nothing much was said about braking. I guess it's pretty average for a Proxes range.

 

- summary ratings:

 

9/10 comfort and noise

7/10 handling

7/10 grip

6/10 braking

Btw how much did you pay? I looking for 22545R17 How is the rim guard? Where is it made in?

 

$285/pc for 235/50R18. All Made in Japan as far as I know.

Didn't notice much of a rim protector like I've seen on other tyres but it works.

 

Try Arrow Tyres or Sin Hin.

just change to this toyo C1S at south east today. Was using toyo T1R previously but was not happy with the noise.

 

boy this tyre is good...................so quiet ( will rub in the tyres and report here again) comfort improve by leaps and bounce over the T1R. Grip and handling is good too, highly recommended for drivers who want a quiet and smooth tyre

Latest update after 1 month of driving on C1S (around 2000 km travelled):

 

1. Comfort and noise are as good as during run-in. Really enjoying this aspect of the tyre compared to CSC3. Have avoided overinflating too much in order to maintain comfort levels. Currently pumping 15-20 kPa above stock pressure and still pretty comfortable.

 

2. A bit difficult to establish the handling limits (not fully explored), but it's not as progressive as the better UHP tyres. Perhaps the profile 50 affects this too.

 

3. Grip has not been pushed far yet but no slipping on wet concrete so still rated 7/10

 

4. Braking is probably slightly better or perhaps I have adapted to the difference from CSC3. Perhaps rated 7/10 now.
