HI all

I am driving a second hand car and notice the ride is very bumpy. Is this considered soft or hard? Whenever i go through uneven road, u can feel the bumps. Sometimes it get so bad till i hear a loud 'clock-clock' sound when i go over something uneven even tho its not a huge hump.

The current suspension i am using is cusco zero2r about 3 years already. However i sent the car to 2 workshops to check. One of the workshops also jack up the car to check for leaks. Another one test drive the car but both workshop said its fine. One of them wanted to sell me a rubber buffer to improve the ride but i am not sure if it would help.

I suspect it could be the internal parts of the car like the toe arms or bushings. any bro here has any advice as to what is the problem ?

Did you change the suspension yourself or did it come with the used car? It could be that you have a setup that's too firm for street driving.

Its a coilover...what you expect ? A magic carpet ride ?

If you want a softer ride...change your suspension....sell your coilovers 2nd hand lah.

I suspect the same.

If the coils are damper adjustable, then go workshop tune to softer setting.

If that cannot be done, change back to original suspension in TS's case.

I thought more bumpy means the suspension is soft. The firmer, the harder the ride.

What car are you driving and is your car lowered?

If you are hearing a 'clock-clock' sound then it could be that your suspension is bottoming out and you are hitting the bump stops. A more progressive bump stop should help to smoothen things out.

Also, your shock valving may not be to your liking. Your springs could also be too stiff. Good for track but not so good for street.

If you like a more cushy/plushy ride, then I suggest selling off the Cuscos and reverting to stock.

Also coilovers are a suspension setup in which the springs are attached directly to the shock bodies. Some cars do come with coilovers as stock.

what is your tyre size?? if your tyre is low profile confirm its bumpy , :).

b4 u drive this car , u drive what car? what is your old car tyre size?

if some 1 change from a 195.65.15 to 225.40.18 for example , u will find the new riDe super bumpy.

( plus u got coil over mean even lower and more bumpy LOL )

The clock clock sound is the pillow mount....common for coilovers to have this kinda sound.

Pillow mount? But it is rilly very loud even w/o going over huge hump...only a slight uneven patch can hear the sound. It does not sound normal.

Hi

was previously driving nissan fairlady. now driving a nissan silvia. tyre size is almost the same.. those low profile type tyres 225.40.18. i noe how it feels but this car im driving now is different. There is a rilly a loud sound when i go thru uneven rd (not those huge hump)...minor ones like drain cover. As if something had hit my wheel beneath. Sent to check the suspension but its working fine.

Could it be the tie rods / toe arms /bushings etc?
