Loudexhaust 1st Gear March 20, 2010 Share March 20, 2010 Thinking of installing Unichip on my ride. Mine is a subaru 1.5R Hatchback. Only changed the air intake to closed pod. Don't think I will change exhaust since there's not much gain (if any). So now the next thing on the list is to install unichip. Have some questions to ask:1. Where is a good place to install unichip + tuning?2. What is the market price?3. Any real gain for a NA car like mine?Thank you in advance for any valuable inputs. ↡ Advertisement

It is advisable to do all your mods before going for the tuning. Question to ask is do you have any more mods to do to your ride?

Need to look for a good tuner and change intake and exhaust, tuning may cause CEL. If open source is avaliable go for it, unichip only can alter the open loop. Rmb someone posted a thread from 3g. But is it possible to get it retuned again next time if I for some crazy reasons decided to do more mods?

Mit81 Clutched March 21, 2010 Share March 21, 2010 my views is u actually do not need to get the unichip at all. Since only the air intake is being altered. Basic mods r Intake Header Exos, onli if u have done tat. Then unichip is required. if not, u r actually ok with yr stock ecu.

If that's really the case, then I'll just save the money for other mods...

Bro. go install it, this chip can really worth every cents that you pay off if you find a good tuner. I just install mine from a part time tuner, my mod was only a drop in filter plus a orginal type r exhaust. suggest you buy a original wrx or STI exhaust which was quiet and good for normal daily drive before you install the uni chip. This chip can really make your car feel so lively, and more over fc also improved. Very fun to drive the car now, by the way i am driving a honda stream auto tran.
