Bluetooth time setting function is a god send when you travel and crosses time zones. Unfortunately, Bluetooth seems to sync with phone time even with the G app. Phone time may not always be in dead sync with time servers. You can't control the frequency of updates with a non-rooted OS (and I can't root my phone cos of work). My phone time always seems a fraction of a second off from my atomic clock app, but my OCD has a difficult time with it. Then again, non OCD people wouldn't care enough with Bluetooth sync etc. Nevertheless, I've wanted to try the BT sync for a long time. So I got a full digital square 5600 something. That red and blue scheme one. Just got it from the official G store online. More ex, but at least it's 100 percent authentic. Didn't even want to risk going through the so called official Lazada store or whatever. My GPW-1000 is no longer able to sync to the GPS satellite time. So I'm disappointed. Other functions work, but it was a 1000 buck watch. Casio is only ho-hum in quality. Edited June 25, 2022 by Turboflat4 ↡ Advertisement

Everytime I rotate back to the watch the batt is flat and need to resync again. Some more my older models don't hold charge very well now. Need to change the batt which is not cheap. Now I only keep like 6 gshocks active. The rest are in cold storage. Lol.

I am the type who can tolerated the seconds being 1-2 seconds off, so BT sync only once every couple of weeks or whenever I remember😁 For an affordable digital quartz movement watch, i will say G-shock quality is more than acceptable for the price. I've edited the earlier part of my post. Did a few quick experiments with my phone and watch. Seems the G app finds its own time as long as Internet connectivity is intact (if not it follows the phone time). So as long as I keep the phone connected to the Internet, the phone time setting doesn't matter. There is still seeming drift between the G app and other time apps, but I have to live with that. As long as the G app gets its time directly from a time server, I'm good. And it seems to be the case. Sorry for the misinformation at first. With regard to longevity, Casio or not, I expect a near top of the line (at the time of purchase 8 years ago, I think it was pretty much topic of their line) costing a thousand bucks to last more than 10 years. Their quality is not what it used to be. There are much cheaper digital watches, even great knockoffs if one doesn't care about brand name or authenticity. That's governed by Android policies, not changeable unless one is rooted. Even restarting (lecheh as it is) is no guarantee of a proper sync. Best is if I can one click (on phone) sync phone time to Internet server then one press (on watch) sync watch time to phone time immediately thereafter. But this can't be done without root. There are plenty of atomic time server apps for Android. They can all *show* the exact time. None of them can *sync* the phone time to their own time without root as it is an operating system restriction by design. Only the phone system time can do whatever it wants, whenever it wants to. Apple should be broadly similar. Being able to target timekeeping is a powerful threat as you can spoof certificates etc. so that's why operating system designers are careful about it. A second off freaks me out already. My OCD is bad. Haha. I guess only the Multiband 6 Atomic time radio frequency synchronisation can satisfy your OCD in keeping the most accurate of time. Unfortunately, I have never manage to sync it even once while I am in Singapore. I did successfully sync it while I was in USA, HK and Japan.

Please see my edited post. I thought I had done this little experiment, but I guess I misremembered. I'm a bit free now so I tried a few things out haha. The Multiband sync doesn't really work in sg unfortunately (some have claimed to have received the signal from high rise buildings, I dunno). The GPS sync works of course, but it's slow and has broken down in my other watch, as mentioned. Edited June 26, 2022 by Turboflat4
Vratenza Supersonic June 27, 2022 Share June 27, 2022 (edited) After looking at G-shock sg's webshop and several other options, decided to try my luck with this Japanese seller with decent pricing and seem quite professional base on the feedback/reviews. As with my experience with all my g-shock owned, I do not expect any issue with warranty within the 1st year anyway. I've tried taking out my old frogman after 6 months in the box and it still runs but my mudmasters will go out of juice in 4 weeks in a dark corner. Casio do really charge an arm and a leg for battery changes. my solar batt is changed at 20 each and no solar is also 20 (2 batt, 10 each). But of course casio ensures that the seal is water tight after removing the case back.
