Open the hood to check. Check for oil leakage from the top value cover. Or in water leaking from hose.

he just did a normal 10k servicing and the mechanic did not find anything like u mentioned.mileage @ 50k

if from the air con vent, then it is common occurence which no one can pin point to the actual cause so far

many theories but so far no one is absolutely sure

see this thread: http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showto...l=fart*++smell*

seems to affect nissan, toyota and honda

Take out the dipstick of the engine oil & ATF & smell it if it has a burnt smell.

If so, then at least u know where the smell is coming from & can get the mech to check those areas throughly.

Some autobox the oil gets fried if driven in certain ways as the ATF gets very hot.

If rotten eggs smell from the AC vents, maybe his cooling coil is mouldy. Get it checked by a reliable ac mech.

It cud b due to accumulation of moisture on the cooling coils when he parks the car as condensation wil occur unless u take precautions.

If burning smell from clutch, means the clutch is slipping. Needs to b adjusted or changed if too badly worn.

Maybe brake pads r binding & smell comes from the brakes.

Feel the rims after a long drive. If the rims r very hot, it cud b the brakes r binding.

Easiest way to check if your brake pads r binding is to jack up the car after a fairly long drive (abt 30 mins) & release the brakes & rotate the wheel. It sud turn freely. If it is hard to rotate, u need to get a mech to adjust the brakes.

But note releasing the brakes when car is jacked up cud b dangerous if u dont know how to do it properly. A good mech wil know how to check your brakes for u.

Turbocharged

Two cases happened to mine which resulted in burning smell.

1. aircon belt jammed.

2. alternator spoilt.
