Oh prices have gone up....When I was there in Sydney in 2005...No Birds rental only about A$ 35.

 

 

Ohh... yeah does seem like it. But it's still significantly cheaper than Avis and the likes.

 

Not a bad drive the new Corolla. Just that the steering is a little too light for my liking.

Mandurah isn't worth it I find. Would skip it the next time I make the trip.

 

 

i find that stopping at too many stop and stay for one night each not fully exploring the places, you spend most of the time on the road.

Agree with you.

 

Stayed close to Middleton Beach at Albany. Quite close to the town centre. Albany is quite a small place I found so anywhere would be equally good.

We stayed at Margaret River's farm. Kids liked it a lot. Still talks about it now and then.... My mum almost had orgasm when she saw the nice big roses.... There's also the chocolate factory there....

Pemberton is a rural place. One interesting attraction is the Karri forest. Can climb up the giant tree with iron rods poked into the trunks... Would go to Margaret River for wine. In fact for WA, particularly southwest, many towns have not much attractions, just places to relax in different kind of environment. Each town will have their own characteristics.

there are many different type of factory in MR, just visit one by and and eat and eat (like ice cream factory on winter) [laugh]

The Karri trees were nice. The train ride was the highlight for me.. went into the forest and back out (apparently they cannot complete the loop now with a partial bridge collapse not too long ago). The town was just a little too quiet. Probably better to stay on a farm or something.

 

Albany, however, is gorgeous.. absolutely loved that place. Will spend a couple of nights there on my next trip.

Ok guys I'm back!

 

Rented a Corolla from Bayswater/No Birds. Paid about 350 AUD for 7 days. Really cheap and fuss-free. The cars are generally new.

 

Itinerary went like this - Perth -> Mandurah -> Bunbury -> Busselton -> Pemberton -> Albany -> Perth City -> Joondalup

Bayswater. Doubt they have any plans to introduce airport pick-up - that would jack up their operating costs very significantly.

Perth -> Mandurah (1 hr)

 

Mandurah -> Bunbury (1 hr)

 

Bunbury -> Busselton (40 mins)

 

Busselton -> Pemberton (2 hrs)

 

Pemberton -> Albany (3 hrs)

 

Albany -> Perth City (4.5 hrs)

 

Perth City -> Joondalup (30 mins)

Had the same journey when I did perth in 2009 as well. Except we couldn't get any accommodation at Albany so we double back & got a nice cottage house in Denmark.

Busselton is simply picturesque. Shouldve stayed an extra day for fishing.

The ice cream & waffles at Pemberton are to die for!!!! Think its the berry farm or something. cant recall.
