Genie47 1st Gear March 7, 2010 Share March 7, 2010 I didn't care if it is a house brand. It already said on the box it is made in China. I kept the drip coffee pot away from view. Since I'm the only one who drinks every morning, I'll use the espresso filter exclusively. For that price. Great to have around to work on the brewing. The cup measure is also the tamping tool. It has the filter for 1 cup, 2 cup and coffee pod! Now that is something. The filter for the coffee pod will allow you to stuff in those pre-packed ground coffee like Nespresso. ↡ Advertisement

Genie47 1st Gear March 7, 2010 Share March 7, 2010 I get packs of ground coffee. Don't be fooled. What counts is not freshly ground coffee. What counts is freshly roasted coffee. When I shop, I always peak at Boncafe's packs They state the day they are produced. As in roasted and ground. The beans production date is when they are roasted. Later production date, the better. You can get the pods because this machine has the filter to accept pods. So altogether 3 filters. 1 cup, 2 cup and pod filter. Of course cannot accept Nespresso lah. Nespresso is special. Pod is encapsulated in an aluminium shell. A fine waste of aluminium if you ask me.
Atonchia Supersonic March 7, 2010 Share March 7, 2010 Huh? No lah, why you say that? I've just had quite a fair bit of experience working with their machines. This is because I was working in some restaurants which used Nespresso machines & capsules. These are different from the ones designed for home use...taste the same though Quite a few outlets in Robertson Quay using their machines.

Atonchia Supersonic March 7, 2010 Share March 7, 2010 (edited) Another real coffee joint in SG tuck away opposite SGH, along the stretch at Kampong Bahru. They roast their own beans. Not to my personal liking but considered one of the better one in SG. Both brothers are passionate in the coffee trade. Look at their video on the "Free Pouring method" demonstration of Cappuccino. http://www.highlandercoffee.com/ Edited March 7, 2010 by Atonchia
Genie47 1st Gear March 7, 2010 Share March 7, 2010 Highland Coffee is my haunt. I detest Starbucks and their ilk though for some strange reason, McCafe has better cuppas then the other two. Will be joining their course on being a barista. Check out Colin's blog. http://espresso.colinloh.com/ The Nespresso Ristretto is reviewed. http://espresso.colinloh.com/2009/11/meetu...of-convenience/

Personally I have learnt to foam milk, but pouring part is disastrous. The best I can only managed is pour it in the centre. It's always amazing to watch the professional presentation. The overall experience of enjoying coffee making as an art form.
Genie47 1st Gear March 7, 2010 Share March 7, 2010 Those are robusta coffee beans, slightly cheaper as the are grown on plains, hardier plant and less care required. About 3 time more caffeine level compare to arabica coffee in terms of volume..... Southeast asian coffee from Malaysia and Singapore are more from the liberica beans. These are caffeine rich beans. Very rich. Richer than robusta and very different in taste from the robusta even.
