Haha.... I bought my Nespresso fm a retail outlet (not a dept store but a furniture outlet) and I had a dedicated staff servicing us, answering our questions, giving us a demo and also coffee sampling with diff capsules. Unfortunately she is not from Nespresso and not exactly a coffee lover so beyond the rudimentary functions, she is not able to demonstrate how I can go about to make different types of coffee. So I decided to vist the ION boutique to learn more about my machine but I was a little put off at first coz no one came up to serve me. The staff just went about their business behind their counter. I had to go up and asked for help instead. It was only then that they acknowlege my pressence. But overall it was still ok as I got my questions answered, understood my machine better. knew more about the different blends of coffee and how to go about to make different types of coffee.... plus we even engaged in some small talk too..... On another occassion, I visited the Taka outlet to top-up on my Appregio capsule and the service there was even more . I saw more accessories on sale and wanted to find out more from them but the info I got fm the staff is nothing more than what I could read off the display card. Really informative session indeed..... So between IOn and Taka, I still prefer the ION boutique. Edited April 5, 2010 by Wreckwrx

U r spot on!!! The vibe that I got fm taka is, "Tell me what u want and get on with it...." At least over at ION, the dude that served me really love his coffee and even taught me how he goes about with it. Tomkurus Clutched April 14, 2010 Share April 14, 2010 Nepresso capsule coffee is for normal coffee drinkers.. those who really knows about appreciating coffee would not go for it. I had 2 shots.. 2 shots of expresso and feel nothing! No body! No acidity, it is almost like drinking from coffee shop coffee. In the real sense of espresso, you are suppose to feel a bit "hight" or "drunk" if you drink espresso nick! Give me the old barista styled coffee anytime, not only I will screw the "socks" I screw "Nepresso" too. Nepresso is only good for those upmarket cafe atas atas type of people who just want to be seen drinking "ATAS" "George C." Coffee. Peace and quiet while your coffee is being brew for you. For me the whole experience of coffee should be the sight, barista working hard at your beans, sound " grinding and clicking of the machines, steaming, smell: of the fresh brew and foam etc... Nepresso has none of it. "
Kspchew 2nd Gear April 14, 2010 Share April 14, 2010 Illy pods are not Nespresso capsule. Quite good consistency so far, crema is pretty thick. But the draw back is once the can is open, it start losing the taste and aroma. Agree with you on Nespresso, their strongest coffee, ristretto taste rather weak, I had two shots but Years ago, I was in Fremental, Perth, there is one small cafe by the road that actually roast your coffee before grinding it and brewing it to perfection. Nothing beats the smell of the freshly roasted coffee, draw back is that you need to wait for about 45mins for your cuppa.
Toledo 1st Gear May 3, 2010 Share May 3, 2010 need some advice on which auto machine is better... i am currently using a 8~9 yr old saeco machine. always sent for regular servicing (adjustments etc) and also a few repairs. now at workshop again bec the mechanism got stuck. may not be worth repairing again... and with so many new models in the market, tempted to get a new set. i'm thinking of either getting a saeco, or do bros here have any other recommendations ? jura is quite ex.. krups & delongi are no no. i prefer coffee machine specialist maker rather than those that make all sorts of home appliances. budget is <$1.5k (ok maybe can stretch to 2k if machine comes with built-in or atuo frothing of milk). thanks in advance. Etnt Turbocharged May 3, 2010 Share May 3, 2010 The saeco machines are juz beside the jura, so try till you are happy before committing. GSS is round the corner, so you might want to wait a little longer to see if any deals come along. Oh yah, taka also got jura. All of them are operated under ricmas, so depending on which card gives you the most discount/rebate that time, go to the corresponding outlet. " Nespresso is targeting at different sector of customers...of course its not ur run of the mill espresso machines from saeco/delongi etc. The coffee grind inside a capsule is small in portion therefore u cant be 'drunk' by 1 or 2 shot of expresso. Furthermore, there is a misconception that espresso shots have more caffeines than drip...drip and french press have more caffines actually. if u want more caffeine, go for robusta beans...which our kopithiam server normally. Expensive arabica beans used in most upmarket espresso shots have lower caffeine content.

Relacklabrudder 1st Gear June 6, 2011 Share June 6, 2011 I have been using Cuppachoice's beans, i have so far they are superior even to imported brands like Illy or Segafredo, in terms o taste, they have less acidity and more power in fragrance. http://www.cuppachoice.com/promotions/ they have promotion with 1 free bag 200gm with every 4 bag purchase. i have been ordering 8 bags (+ 2 free), comes free delivery(for abive $60 purchase) alternatively u can go temple street outlet to get for your self smaller quantity. They conduct course fo coffee baritas there and sell coffee drinks on the spot for those who want it there. so far i tried all their blends and found the Espresso Supreme to be the best of the best ↡ Advertisement
