Sosaria Twincharged March 3, 2010 Share March 3, 2010 (1) Take half-day leave. Boss may be suspicious, but so what? Better up your pay (2) Some jobs are not desk-bound, so you can disappear from your desk for a few hours and no one questions you. Basically, who cares what others in your current workplace thinks? Once you've started going for interviews, you've obviously committed to leaving your present job. You don't have a future there anymore, so who cares what they think of you? Damienic 5th Gear March 3, 2010 Share March 3, 2010 How huh??? Please dun tell me to resign 1st then find job... Do a combination of the following on case to case basis: 1)Take leave 2)Ask for time off (occasionally ask for 2-3hours off from your superior without taking leave is most of the time acceptable by most bosses) 3)Keng MC 4)Arrange interview outside office hours for (1) - (3), you can do none of these options by its own too often which is why it is good to rotate to avoid suspicion. For (4), always ask. some will entertain some will not.

"Paul" your boss's PA and check when your boss is out of office or not coming in and schedule your interview on that day.
Scoobydoo Neutral Newbie March 3, 2010 Share March 3, 2010 Usually it's lunch or take leave... MC also possible. But some jobs want a referee from your previous/current employer and may call up to ask about your conduct/role/performance etc... That's when your boss will find out you are looking around So be careful of this detail if you want to remain hush-hush.

I thought this will happen when the prospective employer is certain to engage you soon. Unlikely for the first round of interviews....
Yuan 6th Gear March 3, 2010 Share March 3, 2010 How huh??? Please dun tell me to resign 1st then find job... Apply time-off. Take MC....Got to pay doctors for medical consultation and prescription. Take leave....Wasted. If company willing, you can en-cash your leave. Go lunch and after work would be the most ideal. But not all prospective bosses are that flexible. So got to weigh the options. Unlikely for first round, yes, but they might call before they shortlist for 2nd round. And 2nd round still not bao get the job... so.. still a risk
