Toyota crashes into store, brakes failed to work

My 5 yrs old altis just slamed onto a bus today. No joke... :((

 

It was on a jam road. Was stopping behind the bus, foot on brake. Suddenly the car kept moving slowly. Immediately I slam harder onto the brake, instead of meeting the usual resistance from the brake...it simply went soft and the car move into the rear of the bus.

 

Now I got a damaged bumper... tmr I'm gg to Toyota service centre to complain and do chk up.

 

Hey...no joke...it's true! I also dunno why it failed to work. The car move despite the brake was stepped on.

 

Brake pad was changed 2 wks ago. But I suspect nothing to do with the brake pad...some electronic system must hv overide the braking function.

Oh is it? Culd it be so serious that the brake totally fail? But I just did a major service with Toyota 2 wks ago. Man. That's very dangerous if it happened while we were driving??

If it really happened, ever thought of shifting into N?? Slammed? How fast was it when the car kept moving slowly? Was it a bump or a slam? From the way you put it, you are exagerating

even if the engine was off, no electronics, the brakes will still work. just that you need to step harder as it is not assisted.

 

how did you drive back after the accident? the brakes are ok?

Alright time to reply all "concerner" here. I have to admit this may not had happened in SG b4... not in my 14 yrs of driving also. I had drove a few type of make b4. Although how bad the brakes were, you only had to start braking earlier and the car will still slow down.

 

The incident here, as mentioned the car was stationery (ie foot on brake - not moving). BTW I forgot to mentioned it was on a slight slope. The car only halted when it went slightly into the bus. Now I got to replace my bumper and according to my mechanic the bar in front is slightly bent ass well.

 

What toyota reply was they tested the braking pressure and are all fine. To be honest are all in very good condition. And yes I can actually drive the car. Amazing? Beats me! Further they advised, ya some of u were right too, engaged N when stopping and pull the hand brake! Reason being the air-con when cut off will direct the "extra" power to the engine causing it to move forward if not in N.

 

But what I dunno is, it rendered the brake not working too?

 

My mechanic said even if unfortunately some bubbles in the braking hydraulic but not all 4 brakes should failed to engage at the same time.

 

Alright, I'm here to see if some other out there met with a similar braking incident or not. If anyone here dun believe it doesnt matter.

 

But still please be cautious of any sign of failure.
