Ultramega 1st Gear February 24, 2010 Share February 24, 2010 My mum bought a box of 30 mandarin oranges, then later 2 relatives gave us 2 more boxes of 12 each, total 30+12+12=54. Cannot finish. Just now wanted to eat, found some already dried up on the inside and hardened..... THROW! My boss bought 20 over boxes, gave 2 oranges to each employee. Most of the oranges ended up as CNY decorations... put all over the tables, pantry, printer room, on top of cubicle partitions... all over the place. As not refrigerated, some started to turn mouldy... THROW! And this is only 1 household and 1 office. How about the hundreds of thousands of other households and offices in SG and millions all over the world? I wonder how many mandarin oranges are wasted every CNY? What a waste! ↡ Advertisement

Rollagt 5th Gear February 24, 2010 Share February 24, 2010 Dun waste food lor..if those not spoilt then finish up. Bring to office after lunch eat also good. I had seen severe food wastage hence I very particular towards food wastage. I used to work as waiter and ever saw a chef pour a big pot of shark's fin into the sewage pipe as normal bin cant take the scalding hot soup.. David Clutched February 24, 2010 Share February 24, 2010 Try making salad with these mandarins. My favourite salad sauce is the sesame-soy dressing.
Opel17 6th Gear February 24, 2010 Share February 24, 2010 Every year, I bought 2-3 cartons [36/box] and immediately keep in fridge for own consumption. I only select the Lukan, which dun look nice on the outside, but juicy and less seeds on inside. When chilled, provided a very good thirst quencher after eating groundnut, cookies, etc.... Each time 3 oranges x 3 times a day = 9/day. Just keep 4-8 oranges on table for CNY visitings. So every year, no wastage
Fcw75 Hypersonic February 24, 2010 Share February 24, 2010 Actually Lukan looks nice on the outside. Pongkan is the one that has wrinkled skin.
Babyt 4th Gear February 25, 2010 Share February 25, 2010 Food wastage is very common in office and when u eat w your colleagues. sometimes ppl come back from overseas holiday and give them small treats like 1 pcs of sweet or choco, these ppl can just dump them aside for sometimes....i mean if u r not consuming, dont take or if take but dont eat, give to those who eat...
