Honestly, don't have to use Garmin GPS in Aust. If u got iphone, buy $30 telstra pre-paid sim card. Convert the whole $30 into data plan. Use Google Map. It is very accurate. I used it for my trip there. Even in ulu ulu place also no problem.

How about local and Msia?

Is it better to use iPhone Google Maps compared to Garmin GPS?

Locally, iphone Google Maps is good enough. For Malaysia, it might b expensive because of data charge.

This is a good idea. Can you advise how you did it? I tried looking online for information on prepaid sim data card from the internet but could not find much information of where to buy and convert.

Any setup information needed?

mine i got from

http://www.osmaustralia.org/

routable ones. good.

only thing is you need a converter to combine the maps.

i last time read and follow instruction from malsing forums. then do.

i hav combined one for SG/MY and melbourne one only.

i using Garmin nuvi 200 cheap cheap. no junction view but good enuff for going ard.

like last time no junction view Sg.

so far so good. and its free. went ard melb, great ocean road, penisula, philip island, etc

if u want only melb , i have. but u need a laptop and card reader. then can get from me lor.

i pass u the file. the other states one u need to get from OSM.
