Use this calculator ...

v chun :)

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_size_calculators.html

dont need to crack head, etc ... just choose ur options :)

yes, 225 vs 215 with other equal, 225 is slightly "bigger" in diameter.

Hence, as i tend to mention - change tyres profile if u wanna save some $$$ over coilover ... reason being, change into coilover or etc, u may also change tyres. change tyres, if dont like can change back & sell tyres ... cheaper of the two devils ...

Tyres will be heavier and hence it'll affect your pick up a little. Your speedo will slightly slower. by about 1+% .

Other than that, you'll have more lateral grip.

You need to ask yourself why you want to do that? The last time I did that is when the tyre that I wanted is no longer available and I used the 225/45/R17 as a stop gap solution until the newer replacement tyres arrive.

My stock tire profile is 215/45/R17..

what is the effect if i upgrade to 225/45/R17? Will there be any negative consequences?

yea was jus considering Hankook RS3s but apparently only avail in 225s...hence the question.

Power of Koup nothing to shout about, just looking around for grippier tires as the stock tires are nothing to shout about either. haha..

There are many choices of grippy tyres under the 215/45/R17 category, you don't need to stick to just a particular model or brand.

Not expecting quiet since i expect it to be grippy. but not expecting RE070 type of grip and noise. :o

Neutral Newbie

Have read many good reviews of the F1 Asym. Even for the China made ones are thumbs up. $150 for a 17" [;)] I dun think there is anything else to pick on.

kia koup can't run, why bother to upgrade the tires at all?

it'd make more sense to upgrade the tires on a colt or a lancer gt

but upgrade on koup = serious waste of money

++ you wanna increase the width of the tires?

you trying to achieve 0 - 100 in 13s is it?

i would suggest used 225 over 215 for 17" rim.

if you used 215 for 17" when hit kerb your wheel/rim will hit first, and also your car look taller

if you used 225 for 17" when hit kerb your wheel will protected by the tyre rubber. so your rim will be safe.and your car look lower and nicer.

how would it be lower ah..i thot if 225/45 vs 215/45, the tire will have taller profile for 225/45? since 45 is a % of the 225 track?

"look" cos the gap is less

best is to fit according to rim width

7 inch width 215

7.5 inch width 225

oversize 225 on 7 inch will cause more sidewall flex as the top part of the sidewall is pulled inwards to the rim lip

using 215 is fine as long as the rubber has rim protector flanges

most uhp tyres do, so no issue with kerb rash

i think kerb rash issue have to do more with driving skill, rather then the rim protector rubber .

the rubber only protect against slight brush against the kerb LOL .
