Aircon Problems for EP70

Hi Guys,

Summary as follow:

1st visit, mech tells me that one of the a/c tube has a tear, thus leaking a/c gas, with that, he proceeded to change a new tubing.

After that, a/c works fine for 3 days.

2nd visit, mech tells me that a/c cold ring damaged (something like tht, I can't quite rem what was the item that he said), what that, he proceeded to replace. (This at no further charges because my a/c still not repaired mah).

After that, a/c works fine for another 3 days.

Pretty frustrated, I called the mech and told him that my a/c is not working again...I've fixed an appointment this saturday for repairs again...this is my 3rd visit in over 4 weeks.....This mech has been a long term service provider turned friend kinda relationship, sometimes I wonder if he does repairs for my car seriously or not...

Anyways, I'm thinking, what else could be the problem...could a faulty compressor be a possible cause to such frequent faults? Generally, the whole car is functioning in good condition with a new re-con alternator, new battery, replaced carbuerator.....

Regards,

Frustrated Butcher with not cold EP70 [:(]

Hi! Bro

Suggest you ask him to check the electrical components too, like the electrical board which should be behind your glove compartment for the control of the aircon system, like your temperature settings and on/off.

My old 1992 EP80 has an electrical actuator which activates the clutch in the compressor to start the compression so that you get cold air and you could ask your mechanic to check if this is having intermittent problem. You can hear the cluch engage sound if you stand at your open bonnet.

The cost of the actuator is only $12 if you can find and replace it yourself.

But not sure if EP 70 control same as EP 80.

Last time, my 1986 daihatsu charade has a relay instead of actuator on the electrical control board for this function and u just need to replace it.

Cheers

I had bad experiences DIY, and doing so, if it doesn't turn out well,it'll cost me more time and time = money.

So I'll leave it to the mech to do the diagnosis and repairs. I'm just wondering what could possibly go wrong after 2 repairs, each time, my a/c breaks down in under 5 days of usage.

Talking about the electrical actuator, when I switch on my a/c, I can hear the clutch in the compressor starting the compression, will get him to check on the intermittent problem, thanks for the input on this.
