Dualie Clutched February 7, 2010 Share February 7, 2010 Hi, Is there such a service that can scan normal film photo to digital format. I do not have the negatives just the actual photos. It's mainly my wedding photos, 10 years ago digital print still at infancy... Roughly how much and how's the quality? ↡ Advertisement
Carer 2nd Gear February 7, 2010 Share February 7, 2010 u can do it yourself. just scan the actual photos. but its a tedious process. i have done that to my wedding photos. every single scan is set to the highest resolution. so process takes a long time. gd luck. Jman888 Moderator February 7, 2010 Share February 7, 2010 with a scanner and PC, you can do it at your comfort and restore the color! did one stack of old photo for my in-law and make it to a clip show with their favourite music (from early 60' wedding to current with grand children), can see tear almost coming out from their eyes.... Bellaraphon Neutral Newbie February 7, 2010 Share February 7, 2010 Alternatively, you can take digital photos of the printed versions. This is provided you have the proper lighting. I did that for my aunty's printed photos after my uncle passed on. She needed it as a slideshow and everything was turned into a movie.

I did that when my grandpa passed away many years back. Canon has flatbed scanners that can scan 35mm negatives and does some fade and scratch correction. Bought the scanner after the staff at their showroom in Funan did a demo using my 20+ year old negatives. You can set the quality yourself and best is through trial and error for the best effect. If you use fade and scratch correction, 1 strip of negative with 6 images takes almost 30 mins to scan.
Dualie Clutched February 7, 2010 Author Share February 7, 2010 Thank you all for the valuable replies. I can't get back negatives as the shop has close down. Guess the only way is to buy a scanner to DIY. Any good AIO scanner to recommend?

I am using those HP $199 AIO type, bought at IT show many years back, more important is the PC that come with more power! it didn't take me to long to scan. Try to fit 6 photo in a A4 page and on tiff format, it auto scan it into 6 separate digital photo , them try to restore the color as close as you an get by playing with the adjust/edit option. ↡ Advertisement
