Vinceng Turbocharged June 3, 2010 Share June 3, 2010 The screen in the picture of the 2l Hyundai i45 below, in between the tachometer and speedometer shows 14.9l/100km, which translates to 6.71km/l, which is rather poor fuel economy http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/gallery.php?...mp;TYPE=reviews Any feedback from i45 owners? ↡ Advertisement
Tinydog Clutched June 3, 2010 Share June 3, 2010 Hyundai i45 $95,999 - OMV $19,400 The 2000cc i45 weighs 1980kg, a little too heavy for a 2l. It may be underpowered. Specs http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=10830 Mark up of 22% http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=10830 Chevrolet Epica $85,999 - OMV $20,500 Weighs a more reasonable 1500kg Specs http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=10462 Mark up of only 5% http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=10462 I think the Epica is an underated car which costs $10,000 less and is an excellent alternative to the i45. Epica comes with 6 speed auto, similar to i45. What are your thoughts? Yeah, totally agree Epica is an underrated car. Saw this promotion that the epica is coming with body kits and stuff for 85k on paper. very good value. I supposed the engine is also smoother then the i45. the thing it seriously lose out to i45 would be the looks...
Leeshunda100 Neutral Newbie June 3, 2010 Share June 3, 2010 we should wait for the K5 to come. it is selling in korea now. K5 looks more chio than i45 and japanese similar range.
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 3, 2010 Share June 3, 2010 and C&C will definitely package the K5 to have much more features than the i45 from KMC.... but the K5 and i45 is totally different from how previous Magentis/Optima and Sonata used to be related.... now, the K5 builds on an aggressive stance, while the i45 appeals to those looking for elegance and class.... totally different market altogether.... Hoppie24 1st Gear June 3, 2010 Share June 3, 2010 for the looks alone, yes, it's definitely worth the 90k (2.0L i45 in this case)....in fact, i'd gladly pay $120k for the looks.... subaru though, hmmm....the sedan does look somewhat gawky at the rear.... and there's really not much of a difference in the interior of both cars (quality wise). however, the i45 trumps the Legacy in terms of interior space as a whole.... basically the i45 is for those who like "Coupe-like looks with 4-door practicality", something like the VW CC or Mercedes CLS.... but it's brother, the Kia K5 is for people who like their cars to have that aggressive look....something that'll instill fear in young children....something that has road image.... Yeah, i agree on the spaciousness compared to Legacy, you talking about the old or new Legacy? I driving the older 2008/09 Legacy GT and leg room is definitely small compared to even the new Honda Civic, most of the Length of the car (4.9Metre) went to the boot and the bonnet, Boxer need big engine bay :P But the i45 more Ah Pek look leh compared to the 08/09 Legacy. Although i admit my Legacy is ah Pek category already :(

Humblepie Neutral Newbie June 10, 2010 Share June 10, 2010 The i45 weighing nearly 2,000 kg?? Not correct - this will be in the Range Rover category! It weighs a little less than 1,500 kg. In fact it's one of the few cars where the sheet metal are hot stamped (at 800 degree celcius) to give 3 time the strength without more weight penalty. I drive an i45 (2.4L) now, and I use to drive a 2.4L Camry. Engine noise - more or less the same. I can feel the difference in power though - the i45 is more powerful. For fuel consumption - I'm getting about 9.5km/L which is almost the same as a Camry given that I do have a heavy right foot. I've had it for about 6 weeks now and done almost 2,000 km on it. I love it, not just the way it looks but the way it feels as well. It has much a sharper steering that a Camry and I can go around corners with more confidence than I could with the Camry. I wish Komoco had decked the car with 18 inch wheels instead of the 17". It would look that much smarter and I am deciding to hold back on 19inch wheels, simply because the 40 series tyres (needed to maintain the overall diameter) will not give adequate protection to the rims. This is a big car and one day soon you will brush up against a kerb no matter how careful you are.

Windchoco 1st Gear June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 Anyone read 1 s h i f t review on i45 vs camry 2.4 ? It seems that camry still have the edge in refinement, unfortunately.
Darryn Turbocharged June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 Anyone read 1 s h i f t review on i45 vs camry 2.4 ? It seems that camry still have the edge in refinement, unfortunately. Yes but do take note of the price difference. I would also say the Camry is more "refined" but the i45 has more "toys" for the driver
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 the toys part only applies for the 2.4L i45 models.... and truth to be told, i'd still prefer the Camry model.... the interior build quality outshines the i45, which leaves one disappointed (especially on the lower dashboard and doors).... however, i'm waiting for the day Hyundai makes a 2.0T 275bhp Hyundai Genesis sedan.... Keithchue 5th Gear June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 was at Komocco yesterday for servicing, saw that i45 have a lower standard in finish. the dashboard is still in hard plastic, was expecting some leather to win the japanese... in this area....japanese still win
Keithchue 5th Gear June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 i did 120 on the expressway...no sound from the engine...tyre noise minimal..very good insulation. engine RPM about 2.5.....just nice, cos of the 5 speed. interior....good...push start..... minor gripe.....aircon buttons on steering might make you switch off aircon unintentionally

Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 Leather dashboard for the i45??? not possible for the i45....but Genesis Sedan possible....
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 Camry 2.0L already good enough.... eitherways, both 2.0L and 2.4L engine still make some noise while accelerating.... but it's Lexus-like refined when cruising.... the Camry Hybrid 2.4L is coming end of this month/ early July.... looking forward to it!!! That'll surely boost the Camry's sales over the i45.... though i still prefer the design of the i45 compared to the Camry though....
