Schnell is at this price very often... if you buy it at any other price, that's the "promotion" price  [laugh]

Just to share my past 2 years with this turtle oil.

The promotion prices comes and goes, but there's usually at least one promotion during every of my oil change cycle.

CHEAPEST: $14.90 / 4L (once a year, usually one or two months after $19.90 promo)

Usual promo: $19/90 / 4L or $4.90 / 1L (I usually stock up on the 1L bottles at this price. Easy to keep 1 bottle in car as backup too.)

Lousy promo: $29/90 / 4L

Non-promo: $39.90 [smash]  (chop carrot)

I work on a number of cars, current daily is a older 5-series. Compared to BMW branded engine oil and Mobil1 5W50, there doesn't seem to be noticeable difference in fuel consumption. Since the Schnell is so cheap, I change EO every 5000km together with EO filter. For the same price, I would choose more frequent oil and filter change over long interval changes. This turtle oil allows me to do so with low cost, so I've been stocking up on it when possible.

Almost 350,000km on the engine, apart from very mild knocking between 2k-3.5k RPM (on Esso 8000), engine still going strong.

Engine oil change cost every 5000km: Schnell EO 6L ($30) + OE filter ($7) + Labour (DIY) = $37.

vs

Engine oil change cost every 10000km: Mobil1 EO 6L ($105) + OE filter ($7) + Labour (DIY) = $112.

vs

Engine oil change cost every 15000km: Mobil1 EO 6L ($105) + OE filter ($7) + Labour (DIY) = $112.

3 changes of Schnell at 5000km each should keep the engine cleaner than 1 change at 15000km...

Seems to clean the engine well enough, doesn't leak from my gaskets either despite oil weight rating being thinner than I usually use. Prefer 15W50 for our SG weather, especially on older engines. But since the turtle is so cheap, can't complain la  :a-panic:

p.s. How come some of you call it a snail? Looks more like turtle head to me.

Some people call it snake, some call it dragon, depends on the individual  :secret-laugh:

my verdict? It's a lousy oil - in terms of it being labeled synthetic. I used this to change from my Valvoline NextGen Max Life recyled oil (non-syn) on a Kia Koup and it is quite obviously rougher ....

that said, its is great value at 19.90

Anyway, have juz scrap my 06 Lexus GS300 this mth.

After 4 years of changing this turtle oil. It's a cheap & good.

Engine still running strong.

But every 5000km will drain out this turtle oil.

Will feel slightly rough after it peak at 5k.

The best oil I can say good is Motul 300V. I used it for my previous EVO 9. Used for normal road use & track use. Try before all other premium racing oil, not a single come close to Motul 300V. Really feel the difference.

For normal NA car, use normal oil can already. Unless u always do high speed driving, then those premium oil will do more protection to ur engine.
