Recently, my white car just took a major scratch from a flying debris on the road. The scratch is black and about 2cm by 1cm in shape.

I'm concern, if this scratch would lead to rusting underneath the paint??

Also, i saw some touch up marker selling at some car accessories shop, are these reliable?? Whats the right way to use it to prevent rusting etc?? Anyone know how i can touch it up myself??

regards

Bro I bought a pen from autobacs and DIY on my car. Ended up with a huge mess that looks even uglier than before. Unless you're very patient, good in art, I recommend you dun touch it and consolidate more scratches before respraying. Just sharing on my experience with these pens.

I bought a paint marker from a book shop and use it to cover some scratch marks on my car. Did a good job although the color is not 100% match i am satified with the results. Cost less than $5! :)

touch up paint is meant for small chip and dent..your 2 x 1 cm is quite sizable...if use touch up paint, it will look worst...

as long as the paint work is not fully stretch till can see bare metal, it sould be safe...

Paint pen in Autobac cost $10+ i think. Use for small chip or scratches in corner of paint. Its more costly because of the matching in colour to ur car in specific colour code. BUT! if for deep big scratch, as previous post said, it create more mess simply because many layers of coatings on top of ur paint on ur car. I would suggest u to approach ur AD to get the specific colour paint. They can simply sell u a small bottle of ur actual paint colour at a cheap pricing. C&C charge $8.50 per small bottle (cap brush).

You can check and get the correct colour code from the authorized dealer.
