Redline or Motul better

These numbers are just extracts of UOA from somewhere, no indication of engine type(high powered modify engine or normal family) or usage(short trip or highway).

If the numbers are believable then Amsoil ASL 5w30 with the worst reading with Lead Pb 7.738/1000 mile, would have span the bearing within 100k km.

For the ASL 5w30, Iron and Copper is in normal range, so I would guess the high lead is due to fuel additive.

From the chart, if we compare the same viscocity say Redline 10w40 to Amsoil AMO 10w40, Amsoil clearly isn the winner with 4 parameters green and only one red but Redline 10w40 has 4 parameters red and only 1 green! Pretty shocking result!!!! [crazy]

Ester based oil has higher cleaning characteristic, so those wear metal could have been accumulated from previously till clean out by Redline.

Anyway need further analysis such as particle count to have a better understanding, not only rely on element analysis.

That could be a reason too. I've been using both Amsoil AMO and redline 10w40 on my rex since new. I think i'll stick to Amsoil AMO for the time being. Cheap and good!

Supercharged

You had overpaid at $150/4L for 300v, you could get it for $114/$L, a saving of $36 if you know where to look.

Even Autobacs doesnt sell so expensive. Yesterday I saw motul sold for $120+, Redline sell for $70. All are w30.

For your reference....

For the benefit for those who wants to know more on UOA.

So you get a UOA. What do all the numbers/chemicals/metals mean? Here is a short "read" on where all these stuff originates.

I am trying out Motul 300V now and it looks like I'm sticking to it. Engine is now smooth, quiet and more responsive. Pick up seems faster by a bit or is it the price that's playing with my mind? 4 litres $150.

i did my EO change at $140 incl. labour + oil filter..

think $150 is kinda expensive bro..

I alternate between Motul v300 and the standard shell helix. both w40.

I feel that the motul is actually not as smooth or quiet as the shell. but the engine does feel more revy but not by a lot. the more obvious difference is not really felt but if I whack my ride and drive hard, the oil temp is much more consistent with motul compared to the shell, esp in hot weather. the car Is more lethargic with the shell during hot days. At initial cold starts I sometimes feel that the shell warms up better.

For motul w40 there are 2 types. the "power" and "chronos". although the difference is only the viroscity but I feel there is much more...

I feel chronos is a waste of money...
