He monitoring the battery voltage, I guess.

Brand new battery was 3.3V. He measured in front of me when he replaced the battery. The ORIGINAL battery that went flat when I passed to him, he measured in front of me was only 2.6V after one month. So after two weeks, I think he measuring it and monitoring it at his end, he called to tell me they would change my key fob.

After just barely two weeks a new battery of 3.3V dropped to below 3.0V without any usage. Isnt it weird? Normally after some time if no activity, the key fob would go into battery conservation mode. But mine did not.

Previously i change battery from a shop in SG also like that, lasted 1-2 months... then i went JB change... now 2yrs liao... bo tai ji... lol

Just to update. Tot of this issue when I was drafting an email to them.

It has been more than three months since the change of key fob. No need to change battery for the key fob at all. All is working as it should be. So I can confirm that my previous key fob was indeed defective, changing of battery every month is not the norm.

tis is the most practical way...a new alarm & lock system cost only $120-$150...

I just lost my Toyota Corolla Altis car keys. Quoted for a replacement of key with immobiliser was $180 for just the key and $400 for key+remote.

Was thinking is it possible to just disable the immobiliser and change the alarm and lock system? Would it be cheaper?

Which shop did you go? That is actually the market rate for immobiliser keys to be honest. You can try visiting Kelvin at Newton Keys in Turf City if you want an alternative quote (unless you are already there).

I lost my remote control car key last week. Now I can manually open the door of my car using my spare key.

Is there any recommended shop that can make a new remote control key linked to my current car system?

Or is it better to install a new remote control system of the car?

Car model is Lancer CS3 without immobilizer.

I need recommendations for a wireless remote for my D800e. Looking to trigger it remotely from about 5 metres or so away.

Been looking at a make called Pixel, any good?

do shops just duplicate the remote without the key ?

my shuttle come with remote and physical key inside the remote.

can I just buy a any remote - without physical key - and then just duplicate the remote unit ? since nowadays don't need the physical anymore.

Neutral Newbie

Hi,

I guess is a matter of backup plan. Just like our electronic door, we always have a spare key in case the remote is not working. Although the ignition is power by the remote and not the key, the key will provide us access to the car indeed.

I believe shop provide duplicate of remote only, but i doubt the price can go very much cheaper without it.

Hi anyone using the spy alarm brand? I got mine install in jb. Sometimes when I step out and close door, i press lock and it will do the usual lock beep sound then suddenly alarm will go off. I have to press the lock again to off it. Then proceed to lock again and same thing happened!

What did I do wrong? Then sometime no issue etc..

I lost one of my keys for my i45 about a year back and was living with just one.

Recently handed my car to my sis to take over and need to replicate one so that she will have two keys. Ask around in Singapore, all quoting between $300 - 500.

Went JB and ask around. Was intro to this key chain called OTIS and got it done for RM800. While still not exactly cheap, it is cheap when compared to the prices I got in Singapore.

OTIS has many outlets in JB but the one I went to is in Johor Jaya.

Convenience Vs Price.

Convenience of keyless operation Vs the expensive piece of the remote key.
