i think all these hype abt bak kwa is very subjective and lacking of substance to support all claims.

I can bet $$ on a blind test. put each bak kwa from each store and let ppl taste it blindfolded..... i can bet that all will get wrong on where each bak kwa come from.

So i dun believe in wat ppl say abt how this store taste like, compared to the other store, because in the first place, ppl dun even know what they are talking about (the blind test will prove this) and secondly, all bak kwa will taste the same

what we've shared so far r just the type, the flavour. that y @ the end of the day, must still depend on TS's tastebud & preference.

which bak kwa is nice is very subjective as different ppl prefer different texture of the bak and taste.

some prefer soft, some prefer hard...u have to taste every single brand before u know which one u like

IMO Lin Zhi Yuan Bak Kwa is only good during normal period but standard drop during CNY. Can try the satay stall at Clementi Interchange market. I aos like the one at Fook Hai building (forgot what brand is that). Alternative u can try at Maju Ave near chomp chomp

Wow thanks all brother for all the suggestions!

ya I agree the bak Kwa taste better and cheaper in non CNY period, but hor, to have it during CNY is just to make it feel more like CNY during my childhood la...

Last time only can eat during CNY, also drink the orange F&N, and play fire crackers bought from Malaysia..ha ha I guess when you start to grow old you want to replica your childhood CNY experience ah [;)]

我来也 agreed. The best bak kwa I've eaten. But this is only from the Melaka Branch (sadly close shop liao). But the one I tried t in JB, at sentosa, is quite bad.

Yet to try duck meat..

The melaka one has been taken over by Long Zi. Last time went there was before you. unless there's another location you went to.

Hi bros,

CNY is round the corner, I do not really like the 'Mei Zheng Xiang' or the 'Xiang Wei' Bak Kwa, neither do I want to queue up for 林志源, may I know any one knows of any lesser known but nice Bak Kwa?

Thanks in advance!

:D

yeah, I've tried many different brands as well. I also find lin zhi yuan soso only and definitely not worth queuing up for hours. I tend to buy it outside the festive session when there is no queue at all and the quality is better.

Some bros also recommended Kim Hock Guan and said it's the best in sgp. The HQ is at chinatown also near hong lim food center. I tried it and also I find it soso only. There is another branch in Chong Pang if chinatown is too far.

Other than these, my family swear by Xin Dong Fang (new eastern). The HQ is in Serangoon Gardens. There is a branch at Toa Payoh Lor 8 as well. The coffee shop next to the hawker center. Been eating this for >30 years. Coincidently my wife's family also swear by this.... [thumbsup]
