Tigerwoods Turbocharged January 20, 2010 Share January 20, 2010 Actually it is a KNOWN fact that Singapore is sinking. The reason why we "reclaim land" is to push our boundaries to counter this effect. I heard somewhere that the sea level edges 10cm/year higher... Zanter 3rd Gear February 11, 2010 Share February 11, 2010 On 1/19/2010 at 1:54 AM, Ahtong said: Will Singapore still be roughly the same or become very very rich and influential? Maybe we will become a crumbling sin city? Territory wise will we be the same, absorbed by our neighbours, absorbed our neighbours or reclaimed by the sea and jungle? Population wise, how many will live here? Do you think the ethnic mix will remain or will everyone become a rojak? The survival record for city states is very bad. Athens, Sparta, Florence and Venice all had their glory days but eventually got absorbed. The way human's are burning fossil fuel like no tomorrow, the earth would have warmed so much, the polar ice cap and greenland would have melted raising the sea level 10m or more. 1/2 of SG will be under water and the northern pass will be open all year around, which means most ships from Europe will bypass SG on route China and vice versa. Its not an evitable scenario but a likely 1 as human's can't slow their greed as shown by the failure of the recent climate summits.

Add001 Neutral Newbie February 11, 2010 Share February 11, 2010 In the year, 2110. Most will have their flats returned due to end of lease period. We will have flats built underground to save land space. Our country land size will shrink due to rising sea level & so will the rest of the world. Population will burst, maybe 20% to 25% birth will be mixed race.
