I think is it also test IQ... from this math test, it shows my IQ is pretty low.. Misread the question and leads to the wrong solution... and also understand the answer later.

U got that right, sucker. Nowadays maths Q also test u on your grasp of english

actually, if you didn't put the answer, I'd have thought the question is asking how long was his walking part for both flights of stairs, not walking entire flight of stairs. [sweatdrop]

May be better if you don't put the answer next time, then we might have different answers & it will then be an interesting test.

Anyway, my solution is:

By running 8 more steps, he saved 24 seconds. So by running each step, he saved 3 seconds.

This means running 1 step is 3 seconds faster than walking 1 step.

Firstly, assume there are 16 steps(at least), I will use the model diagram to solve.

(70-3x9) /16 = 2.6875seconds to run each step.

2.6875+3=5.6875 seconds to walk each step.

Then substitute the above values into second flight of stairs to test if correct.

15 x 2.6875 + 1 x 5.6875 = 46 seconds.

So that means there are 16 steps.

In 1st flight, he walked 9 steps. In 2nd flight, he walked 1 step. Total, he walked 10 steps.

Time taken = 10 x 5.6875 seconds = 56.875 seconds.

But if he walks the entire 2 flights of stairs, time taken = 32 x 5.6875 = 182 seconds.

the difference of 1st and 2nd: 70-46 = 24s

2nd step run more step: 15-7=8

so every step run/walk difference is 24/8=3s

so for 1st flight of step, if all walk need 70+7*3 = 91s

for 2nd flight of step, if all walk need 46 + 15*3 = 91s

Total = 91*2 = 182 s

am I math genius? YES

:D

actually this is the fastest solution except that

for 2nd flight of step, if all walk need 46 + 15*3 = 91s

is not needed. The question said two fligths of stairs are the same. you just need to times 2.

I also understand the question wrongly. Without the answer, alot of ppl sure dun understand wat they r asking for.

I also got 1 tough question.

Company G lost 675 million, but increases 5.4% of Electric bill and 4 cents of petrol, plus X percent of marking in every new home built. How long will it takes Company G to gain 675 million?

yes, that question should be phrased "If he had to walk up the entire 2 flights of stairs, how long will it take?"

that would make it clearer.

but your question, I totally catch no balls.
