Mazdaowner Moderator May 9, 2012 Share May 9, 2012 I know quite a few parents of friends who have been taking statins for many years, and they display all the classic symptoms, failing memory, muscular weakness (hands shaking, unstable when walking...etc)... Sad thing is, they simply attribute it to "old age". 60+ ain't old! Living the last few decades of life in a state of physical impairment and confusion is simply not acceptable in my books. Bro. we got to face it, not many people will subscribe to this sort of lifestyle nor many will believe in such either. You can only help people who are willing to help themselves. ↡ Advertisement
Hjteo 1st Gear May 9, 2012 Share May 9, 2012 Thru this few years of this life style and showing the results, I am learning to let the issue of the cw eating style of my significant other and family go and get the support else where (like the paleo community here ). It may not be religion but it feels like it.
Chickenbackside 1st Gear May 9, 2012 Share May 9, 2012 It's so surreal isn't it? It's like everyone around you has a veil in front of their eyes, or rather, in their brains.

The 1st few pages already got tonnes of info from a local perspective - eggs, vegs, ayam brand coconut cream, butter, meat, nuts (except peanuts)..... Octopusks Neutral Newbie May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 I think she herself should do the reading and research. She need to believe it herself. Without the conviction, she won't be able to follow through.
Marvelicious 3rd Gear May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 Arh thanks guys. I do know the basics quite ok. Just wondering if there is something different for a 100kg girl.
Cymagnus Clutched May 16, 2012 Share May 16, 2012 If she's in her 20's, most likely she indulges in processed foods that are rich in sugar. Example fancy tea/coffee, chocolates pastries and anything that come in nice packaging. Like the bross aid here, she had to buy into this paleo stuff. She had to be enlightened all by herself. Else all efforts are only temporary and slipped back to her comfort zone. I had to say, sometimes 'leading by example' is not effective enough. Chickenbackside 1st Gear May 16, 2012 Share May 16, 2012 (edited) Arh thanks guys. I do know the basics quite ok. Just wondering if there is something different for a 100kg girl. Nothing different, unless she's from Mars or something. We all share the same biochemistry. But Octopusks and Cymagnus made a very important point, without education, there will not be enough conviction to follow through. Within this thread, you can already see many examples. She is not only going to have to battle against the strong desire to eat her favorite foods, she's also going to have everyone else telling her she's going to kill herself by eating this way. An open, intelligent and logical mind is the first requirement. Edited May 16, 2012 by Chickenbackside
Hjteo 1st Gear May 16, 2012 Share May 16, 2012 As bros above mentioned, after conviction, comes disciple which is also needed cos this eating habit can be a personal journey.........until we all in this topic come together for a paleo/primal meal . Disciple cannot be passed down - it is built up.

Piyopico Supercharged May 19, 2012 Share May 19, 2012 She has to open her mind. With that the possibilities are endless. If we ever do a meet up, invite her.

Chickenbackside 1st Gear July 12, 2012 Share July 12, 2012 I've got a friend who lost a huge amount of weight by going paleo, but his wife is not on board. He eventually gained all his weight back. He says it's not worth the daily confrontation with the wife. I guess some people just can't see. My friend lost 40kg, his doc took him off his metformin/Lipitor/Plavix after seeing his tremendous improvement in health, went from being a fat ass to hunk, and his wife gets angry with him because he can't eat any junk and looks good. She's does everything she can to make life difficult for him to continue being healthy and looking good. Now he's back to being a fat diabetic who has trouble getting off his couch, but at least they don't fight about food anymore. Sigh. Strange world. Hjteo 1st Gear July 12, 2012 Share July 12, 2012 (edited) After a couple of years on Primal/Paleo, the weight has maintained and now has some muscle mass as well the face being not so 'sunken'. I guess the 'sunken face' is why there is this tension over the Primal/Paleo eating life style. Now I just let my family choose their food when outside cos they already knew. Just not worth losing our relationship arguing over it. The closest experience this comes to my mind is being a missionary. Just consider that we are early adopters and ahead of our time Edited July 12, 2012 by Hjteo ↡ Advertisement
