Confirmed: Women worse at parking

I find that I cannot park head in.. In a MSCP, there are certain lots which are towards the end.. They exist in single lot and the position they are placed are more suitable for head in instead of reverse..

i think shopping centre carparks are more easier to park head in due to ample space.. I still don't try to go head in unless it's a difficult position to reverse..

Neutral Newbie

I do have one confession, no matter how I try I just can't do head-in parking at all. I can reverse park, parellel park left or right side, but I just can't park head in to save my life.

it is because driving school didnt teach us how to do head in parking and how to reverse out from the lot. requires alot of estimation when to turn the wheel to come out without knocking the side cars. especially if u have a long bonnet.

That is very true.

Each time I park at the shopping malls in the USA, I find it bemusing that I will be the only one who reverse-parks, while nearly 100% of the American drivers all park head-in first.

Just walking back toward my car after shopping, and seeing my car being the only odd-one-out, is a visual comedy ... sticking out like a sore thumb!

Any reasons for them for parking head in?

I don't know how to do head in parking and parallel parking very well. [sweatdrop][dizzy]

hmm not all women are bad at parking! it's back to the whole "females are worse drivers than males" stereotype..

Agree with you on this. I have encountered good considerate female drivers but I also faced before some female drivers who are too good a safety driver, brakester, road hogger etc.

that's the thing! partly due to women's innate characters, we women tend to be more cautious when driving and hence end up being slightly slower (eg. checking blind spots three times before moving off compared to a man who might just check once and go). i have seen both men and women drive good or bad, i don't think it's the gender but more of the amount of time you spend on the roads.

someone with a licence for five years but has not driven since he/she passed the driving test would probably be more dangerous than say, a P-plate driver who is just newly-licenced!

In the USA, the car park slot's width for each car is generally much wider than what we have here in SG.

It is thus easy to go in head first, unlike here.

BTW, do not ever refer to car park 'lot' there, since a lot is the whole car park.

For example: the car park lot of a shopping mall is the whole damn space for all the cars parked there.

I have many American colleagues who make fun of the electronic signages we have here in SG, indicating the number of car park 'lots' available in various buildings and shopping centers.

Imagine: 287 lots available in Suntec City. Holy Baloney!!!

I seriously duno why you guys still wana stir up this topic. I used to be super anti female drivers until I realised it is part and parcel of life and its a matter of getting used to it. You know they are super defensive when touch on the topic of driving so why even start the war? Saying their driving sucks is like saying girls have long hair; it's nothing unusual anymore. In fact its a way of life already. It would be a topic more worthy of posting if it says woman are better driver [:p] Come on just put this behind and move on [;)] I believe the same type of "war" happen before when males are always used as criminal portrait but anyone making noise about that now? Hope you get what I am saying.

I heard about parking head in in Malaysia is for some security reasons.....waiting for people to verify....But when I drove in Malaysia, I follow suit and sometimes I reverse parked.

In China, I see all kinds of parking....You got head in and reverse park as well.....
