Just changed car battery

died 1 year 4 months

changed to amaron 95ah at $180 in nam wah

nam wah told me that the heat from the diesel engine killed my old varta battery earlier as compared to petrol engine. he said that the lowlee chaps which battery is placed at the side and not near the engine compartment change battery 3-4 years.

i am thinking of re-routing the battery to the boot and use the savings from buying a new battery to fund the project

with a big space free up in the engine compartment, any ideas what can i do with the space?

possible options:

1) put loudhailer [grin]

2) put supercharger (i readly have turbo) [lipsrsealed]

3) put another air filter [crazy]

any other ideas? crazy ones are welcum [grin]

can be done...if u take a look at pasir gudang track cars...they are totally stripped....reinforced with a roll cage....and battery routed to drivers side...will post pics when there is time

and of course the single most important factor is the engine...

thanks man.....but why the track cars want to re-route battery to cabin?

is it because they also realised that heat kills battery?

or it is they wanted to needed the space to put something extra in the engine compartment?

the nam wah guy told me that in SG, all teksi use amaron battery because these indian battery can tahan heat very well

but even then teksi 8 months battery die already

so it makes more economic sense for teksi to re-route battery to somewhere else. but teksi need the boot so i think they rather don want to do that

track cars are very light and very fast...it could be used as a counter balance

and the pasir gudang track is punishing on the tyres....i presume a normal road car can go for about 20 laps...40 laps and the tyres become slicks.....

anyway im not the pro here....u can ask the honda pros...becos i saw an eg with a battery routed to the back

going to pasir gudang was fun and its an experience....i would think one would be more worried of the vehicle being able to take the track and aggressive driving...

Find those heat resistant material and wrap your battery? The battery in my VW Caddy is wrapped up and so far it's been almost 2 and a half years.

reason why these track cars route their battery to cabin or boot is to free up the space in the engine bay. without the battery blocking there, its easier to narrow on the fault if there is any problem.

hmmm...cant compare tecksi....they 1 day clocked abt 600km(2 shifts)....take them to hit 20k/km a mth....which average motorist clocked abt 25k to 30k/km an yr....

moreover diesel engine need a more heavy duty battery to crank its diesel higher torque engine. Is quite common for battery of diesel engine to die in 12 to 16 mths.

does the caddy comes with the heat resistant wrapping? or you fix it yourself?

can show a picture or 2?

thanks man!

i can't do that because the radiator, aircon radiator, and the rest of the radiator buddies all there....(blocking the steel cable from being drawn out from the winch)

It comes with the heat resistant wrapping. Didn't do it myself.

Ok, I take a pick and show you later.
