SINGAPORE: A taxi ploughed into a convenience store located at Tiong Bahru Plaza on Friday.

Police said they received a call about the accident at about 1pm.

Hotline callers to MediaCorp said the impact of the accident shattered the taxi's rear glass panel as well as the glass panel of the store.

A man, aged 56, was hit by the taxi. He suffered leg injures. The other two women - one aged 18, the the other 51 years old - suffered cuts from the shattered glass.

All three suffered minor injuries and were sent to Singapore General Hospital.

The taxi driver, a man in his 50s, escaped unharmed.

Police are investigating the cause of the incident.

One witness said: "It was loud. I could hear it from my friend's house. So I quickly ran down to see what happened."

Another added: "There was a man who was sandwiched between the taxi and the shop. The taxi had hit him. The taxi was going to reverse, but then driver stopped himself because he was afraid the man would get injured." - CNA/ir/ms
