Alheych 6th Gear July 18, 2010 Share July 18, 2010 my impression of a punto grande stops at the cheap black material they use to wrap the door frames, looking very aftermarket.
Rtth84 1st Gear July 19, 2010 Share July 19, 2010 Engine Oil: 3L (2.6L needed without oil filter change) Original Oil Filter: S$15 (OEM : S$10) should be $6.50 Original cabin filter: S$35 (I used OEM MANN: S$25) can get original at $30 Original engine air filter: S$35 (I think) OEM $20 Original NGK plugs : S$60 / set NGK Iridium only $60 for 4 Labour for engine oil+filter change: > S$30 depending on which workshop. I think these prices are as cheap as Jap spare parts (:
Jenggowenggo Neutral Newbie July 19, 2010 Share July 19, 2010 Those rental Puntos are dying soon.. hahaz... I drove the 3DR Skydome recently and seen the other Puntos around.. All received pretty much damage to their body... As for the one I drove, gearbox had issues, etc etc... But based on my previous Punto '09 driving experience, the Punto really gives you great sense of security while driving. High speed corners don't pose a problem to the Punto... Went up to 185kmh max on NSH stock.. Even at speeds of 140-160, you have confidence while negotiating the highway bends.. Don't look down on it's puny engine and horsepower, it can overtake many similar engine capacity cars up to 1.8.. The only letdown is once you're at the peak of abt 140 and up, you can only see the tail lights of the one you're playing with.. Coz it takes a longer time to reach it's max speed.. Servicing wise can be done in JB, tried and tested with great service as well... Only thing is.. once u get into an accident and have to claim against yourself or fork from your own pocket, be prepared... very prepared.. dependent on how bad the damage is, as most parts aren't readily available and have to be sourced direct from Italy.. Try to get the newer models with the red Fiat badges if possible... Mainly the newer '09 registered models I believe... Am contemplating a new Punto Evo myself now... But depreciation is almost double that of the used Grande Puntos... ouch... heeez.. Where to service this car in JB ah gang ?

This 1.4l can take on most 1.6 jap car (except cars like swift) and keep up 1.8l like the prev Gen Wish at max speed. But loses steam to Stream beyond 140. And cannot keep up wif 2.0l cars like Lancer GT or 2.4l Camry who will wave goodbye to u while u appear stationary at 3 digit speed. LOL.

Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 9, 2010 Share November 9, 2010 (edited) To all owners of Fiat punto grande and honda jazz owners. Preferably manual owners. I have finally zeroed down to purchasing either cars. I was just hoping some of you might share with me the performance, downside, maintainence and FC of the car. Much appreciated. =D P.S. I'm purchasing a second hand car, probably around 2-3 years old. I believe in safety first. Having owned and driven Fiat Uno, Suzuki 800, Perodua Kelisa, Perodua Myvi, I believe the Fiat car is the safer buy (if not thrashed) I was told in Jarkata, they only changed the stock engine for racing (no modification/upgrading required). My observation: generally Fiat better roadholding and Japanese cars better braking distances. Fiat better for long distance trips with lumbar support as standard and Japanese cars for congested carparking access with smaller turning radius. FC about the same Once drove my Fiat Uno 1.0i.e at 162km/h in Perak (NSH). Did not further on in case the engine too small (car was stable) At the moment, musing to trade-in my Japanese designed car for a used Fiat Punto (laugh). When I bought Myvi last year, there was no last than a year old Fiat Punto on sale Edited November 9, 2010 by Good-Carbuyer

When I bought Myvi last year, there was no last than a year old Fiat Punto on sale Myvi is not a really bad car though Sirion is much better in value and in terms of build quality. Probably you need a set of upper strut and rear ARB and good tyres with proper inflation. Proper and steady throttling is also critical in having a stable ride round the corners. In general, I believe Myvi/Sirion are good cars, but Punto much better for driveaway holidays during retirement/semi-retirement. Punto do not even needs upper strut and rear ARB, just good tire will do (Japanese cars great for commuting, but Italian cars for racing, too). I do not race but prefer the road adhersion safety feature especially when a relative took over the driving from time to time on long distance trips. Actually Kelisa better road adhersion than Myvi/Sirion when accelerating/cornering, besides lesser blindzones. Only the top speed limited and a little tight on cabin space Edited November 9, 2010 by Good-Carbuyer

Porche 5th Gear November 14, 2010 Share November 14, 2010 i own a fiat uno before, afer the 6th yr lots of wear and tear. parts were not cheap then....until the local distributor give up on the fiat dealership, i bought drive shaft at $50. but i won't want to get another fiat, Jap and korean seems easier and cheaper to maintain
I-LOVE-CARS 1st Gear November 14, 2010 Share November 14, 2010 (edited) Fit/Jazz is in a way more reliable due to the fact that it is a Japanese make and also spare parts are more easier to get. GP is more in it's design and fit/Jazz have it's trademark Vtech engine so is up to your personal choice. But i personally drive a 2008 fit/Jazz and i think is smooth and reliable...GP, i never try before but i also never heard any horror stories with the GP. Maxxtotal 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 anyone tried punto's sprint 0-100 timing? Slooooww... but feels fast, u just have to drive it or sit in one to understand it. The engine rev growl, clutch shove...makes u feel like driving fast but in reality u r not even 100km/h lol. one major cause of the slow sprint time is bcos the 0.5-1sec slow start delay of the robotised clutching bite point to launch on first gear. 2-3 gear is quite a blast. but remember this car has puny power output of only 77bhp.
