What's the estimated damage for my tire size? I asked for Michelin Pilot Sport 3 at Autobacs a year back and was quoted $285 I think...

quite and performance doesn't come cheap.price range is about there.think conti sports cost more but you can check with Stamford tires.they offer free nitrogen,2 rotations and free nitrogen top up anytime but i still prefer Michelin.

I'm using Michelin premacy

Around Mar2017, paid around s$700 for four tyres 225x50x 17

Wet and dry grip is good.

Almost 50k km, tyre still very quiet and tyre thread still good.

I will still consider the same tyre for my next change.

Cheap n good.

2 is what they offer.you can always bargain and get a lifetime.depends on the price of the product.like any other business, they are looking for customer loyalty.so if you're buying, squeeze as much as you can.

I have just trade in fresh from collecting car. 17” rim and kumho tyre for 19” SSW with Falken AZEN FK510 255/40Z/R19. Paid 1800. Only individual tyre rotation.

Is the price reasonable?

Is there a better suggestion of quieter tyre?

Azenis FK510 is Falken latest SUV tyres and have good ratings. 19” usually around $270-400 each so your deal ok. 17” brand new rim and tyres can take it as $600 so your cost is around $2400 which is $1200 for tyres and $1200 for the SSW 19” Stamford house brand.

Hi bros, if we want quiet tyres, anyone experienced upgrading to 18â makes a terrible difference as compared to 17â?

If 17” quiet tyres upgrade to 18” not quiet tyres of course

Depends on from what tyres change to what tyres. And largely depends if changing to wider tyres or not. Of 17” is 215, and 18” is 235.. then May be noisier even with quieter tyre

From EU labels... the quietest tyres are around 69DB. The normal tyre is ard 72DB. I doubt humanly possible to tell a difference of 3DB.

decibel is an exponential unit. 3db is 40% increase in amplitude and double in sound energy. if the sound falls in human ear frequency it would be super obvious

Lol it really depends on your ride and the type of tyres choosen.

I feel my 20 inch tyres are many times quieter than the LCR Mazda 3 Grabcar i took the other day.

I dont know why the tyre roar is so loud to the point that it is extremely hard to talk.

To answer your question, 17 to 18inch upgrade, as long you choose a quiet tyres. It wont be a terrible difference.

Many people's rides are still very quiet with 18/19 low profile tyres too.

I am using this now..

Not as quiet as GR100 that it replace.

Been using gr80. 90. 100 for this car.

I wont buy again unless they go back GR series.

Next should be Dunlop or Yokohama

I used GR90 and GR100 before.

They are really good for comfort.

I tried Toyo C1S before, surprisingly was very quiet until end of life. Wet and dry grip was good too.

PS3 was only quiet for the initial stage.

Anyone have tried both PS4 and PS4S before?

How is the difference in terms of comfort and quietness?

Thanks for the advice. I am kinda gave up thinking about quietness each time I take a hitch in a friend’s 5-series, renewed COE reaching 12yo. Still quiter than my previous first hand new Mazda3, Elantra, and the current Tucson. Mind if I ask which car you drive or referring to when you said many people’s rides are still very quiet after upsize?

If you are also referring to the less premium rides I driven/driving, can please guide me what brands/model of rims & tyres if I go for 19”?

noise is really subjective and dependent on many factors

depends on the tyre you use, the profile of the tyre and insulation of your car and the road you travel on.

all else being equal, quieter tyres are usually Primacy, turanza gr100, toyo c1s, goodyear F1a3
