I have seen some of these embassy cars around, drive like nobody business. There's a Toyota Estima/Previa, tailgating and changing lanes recklessly without signaling.

Yes. Diplomatic plate is rather big shot. Its above the law, in some ways.

To be exact... foreign country laws have to power over diplomats... whom they only follow laws according to their country.

So... to get hold of the diplomat... the country which he is from have to surrender him to our authorities.....

Rad X will give the details... he is a very smart guy!!!!

yes, they are above our country's laws in some ways, but not above their own country's laws. And even though the crime is committed in a foreign land, they can be charged under their own country's laws.

So in a way, they are not immune from punishment. If the driver mentioned is caught, good luck to his job LOL i think it's the end of his career.

Neutral Newbie

It depends...For instance, if a Singaporean commits an offence overseas, you can't charge him here under Singapore law (unless you are talking about child sexual offences in Batam of course)....So lets say if you are arrested overseas for an offence...it is the law of that country that deals with you....And you normally won't be charged in Singapore after you've been dealt with in that country...

For Diplomatic staff, the sending state is not obligated to punish the staff, even if the host country insists...It is entirely at the discretion of the sending state....their own laws may allow for offences committed overseas to be heard in their own country, but this is often only the minority....
