Yorkshire 3rd Gear December 15, 2009 Share December 15, 2009 you certainly make sense.. told my wife that if our finances are less tight, i'll sign up for a nursing course, and hopefully i can become a nurse while i'm still reasonably fit and healthy... palliative care is something that i wish to do.. it is pretty sad to know about all these unfortunate cases in the modern society we have today.. ↡ Advertisement
Ahtong 1st Gear December 15, 2009 Share December 15, 2009 You are not a baby boomer. More like an early prototype of Gen X. Baby Boomers were born in the late 40s and early 50s when the all the WW2 soldiers ORD'ed and went to their . This caused a boomz in the number of babies, hence baby boomer. If the timing is just right, grandpa = Baby Boomer, son = Gen X and grandson = Gen Y.

The only thing that hold me to Sg is my parents are still here and I am the only male in the family. Is sad to leave the homeland but too bad... Shorty Turbocharged December 15, 2009 Share December 15, 2009 thargor...u r lucky to hv a gd paying job in a big co. so ur concerns abt the govt policy is less...or none at all. but for those who don belong to the bottom class, n yet barely make the middle class, life is really tough....n they hv to know wat policies our dear govt is coming up wif. for example, education. we hv to know how well we cn cope to send our kids to school. how much out of our pathetic pay we hv to set aside so that our kids get decent education. then for taxes, rebates, fees of our daily needs...we really need to know how much govt is bleeding us dry. cos for every $1 that we can save...it's a $1 earned. then for housing...the poor will get to buy 1rm, 2rm flats. some will also b eligible to rent from hdb. but for those who r "rich" enuf not to b eligible for 3rm...must buy 4rm. n fork out at least $20k cash. where on earth do we dig out that cash from? sometimes i wish i also can jus heckcare abt our govt's policies n watever they hv got. but...we r neither here nor there. tots of migrating surely will run thru our heads...but we need funds to migrate also. which sadly r not that easy to find. so for now...i can b not too concerned...but at the same time, b concerned. Ace Clutched December 15, 2009 Share December 15, 2009 (edited) Heheh baby bonus, child care leave, maternity, paternity leave I care about alot also. so it is not as if you don't care but you care selectively only on policies that hit you on your pocket for sure you will care..like increase in property tax though that might be a small hit Edited December 15, 2009 by Ace

Thats the whole gist of my thread really...others than policies that affects me directly, the rest of the policies are a blur to me. However even for those policies with direct impact on me...I couldn't really care less also...whatever I need to do, pay, I will. Intervuurt Neutral Newbie December 15, 2009 Share December 15, 2009 we're on the same page, TS - i also don't care about national politics and policies. but i sometimes wonder, if our gahmen is right about getting monkeys if we pay them peanuts, how cum paying them millions we still get the same s--t as other countries eg. recession? then i get a bit annoyed with our c--k national politics and policies. but meh, i quickly get back to my own s--t. we're the apathetic generation. Jman888 Moderator December 15, 2009 Share December 15, 2009 this is precisely what the govt wants to produce, taking care of the middle class who happily accept all the policies they made as the impact is not obvious to this group, double income, upgrade to condo, own car(s) , go for holiday, getting kids to go good school and sign up for courses. see the pattern? at this stage, do we really care abt what policies they make? honestly if you want a different view, mcf is not presentative as most likely we are in the same class (not E, C or S lah!). the old man ever said the country do not mind letting go the 5% quitter as majority are neither here nor there (吃不饱也饿不死!). perhaps this should be the way to run a country but many are shouting for more freedom, etc.... well at least we enjoy peace and prosperous years and maybe for next 10 or 20 more years but it could be the next generation that really to worry about... stop here for now..... So_nice 6th Gear December 15, 2009 Share December 15, 2009 while the rich gets richer, alot of pple are left behind. singapore has alot more of those families as shown in the program last nite on channel. there are ppl who donates and see their $$ got abused by those who had their conscious eaten by a dog while some of the lesser men are left to fend for themselves.
