Auto transmission problem

my ride is a verna 1.6A. recently, when i was driving on the road, all of the sudden during driving at constant speed(usually at low speed), i feel that there a slight change of power to the car. and after that, whenever i stop at traffic light and wanted to move off, i need to accelerate abit more to make the car moves.

when travel at constant speed of maybe 70km-80km, the rpm should be 2k rpm but it go up to 3k rpm. and during parking, i shift gears between R and D, everytime i shift to R or D, there is a slight vibration before the gear is engaged. but the engage of gears are very fast, not much delay.

another strange thing is, if i turn off the engine and start the engine again. all the above signs are gone. there is no vibration when changing gears and the acceleration is back to normal.

anyone encounter this? and i don't what happens because it don't happen always, on and off. maybe once a week or twice a week.

i went to ComfortDelGro, they advice me to overhaul the transmission. and this morning, I just went back to Komoco. They can't find anything wrong but they mentioned tighten something related to the engine. But this evening, I encountered the signs again; 3k rpm at 80km instead of 2k rpm and also vibration when parking/shifting gears.

now i don't know what to do [:(]

When you encountered this problem, do you feel the car was like in gear 3 instead of gear 4? Meaning it didn't shift up?

good practice to change your tranny oil every 20k.. if it wasn't done b4, get it done first and see if it works..

mine was done at 40k, now it is 55k.

Might b something wrong with the ATF ty put in or even wrong type.

If u using Dextron II or III, get it flushed with fresh ATF & see how. Hopefully no permernent damage done.

U can use Toyota Type IV ATF. Its Dextron III but mineral.

If u want synthetic, I recommend Royal Purple MAX ATF.

If u can do the full flush is better than the simple drain & fill.

Could be the sensors. Mine was screwed and before the problem was fully resolved, I changed my ride. It was a Getz

Seems like Hyundai autoboxes tend to have problems now.

Last time I used the Excel 1.5 auto it used the Mitsubishi autobax & it never gave me problems for the 10 years I used it.

Hardly even changed ATF. Just drove & drove. Only 1 ATF drain & fill around mid life. DIY summore. :D

Most likely your fuel injectors are clogged. The fuel or petrol has problem reaching your cylinders at idle and during acceleration. That why a lot of vibrations you mentioned as if the engine is going to stall when you engage gear. Depress hard on the gas pedal just to get the car moving.

I suggest you buy the 3M fuel tank addictives(fuel injector cleaner & fuel system cleaner) or any other brand you prefer. The 3M one will set you back around $20 or less. Can get it at Carrefour or Giant. There are two bottles one black/green, the other orleng, they come as a package. The instructions will tell you to pour 2 bottles into your fuel tank and fill it up with petrol. Do not pour 2 at the same time, otherwise no power :D . Use the fuel injector cleaner for one full tank first, I think it's the black/green one, preferably pump higher grade petrol like 98 to go with it (which I did, to be more effective). The orange bottle for the next full tank.

It shld solve your problem.
