Earn 20K to afford Beemer 3 series??!!

Was going thru sgforum sometime earlier...came across this post where a guy claimed that one needs to earn 20K and above to drive a BMW 3 series!!

 

Absurb man!! Where got so expensive!! :excl:

 

Here's the exact post...

 

"ya i do agree tat u got to earn a minimum of 5k before u can afford a small car in sg....as for those 100k++ car like bmw, lexus...etc....u need a salary of at least 20k and above....coz i am driving the new bmw 3 series.....and i know wat it meant to maintain such cars...."

 

They were discussing how much the salary should be before considering car ownership....

They were discussing how much the salary should be before considering car ownership....

 

Several years ago, almost all new cars were above $100k. Many like me dont have even $10k pm were driving more than $100k cars.

Exactly my thinking... wanna let ppl know he's earning big bucks...

can take 10 year loan, entire salary go into instalment, buy OPC, sell spare tyre, sell light bulbs, sell rear seats, no drive at all, park at east coast free carpark, everyday walk to temple take free bee hoon then walk to work,.... lidat can oso own bmw mah

i was at the coffeeshop today and overheard a conversation between 2 guys: "the coilover only 10k nia lah. i wanna change to 22" rims..only 8k 1 set..etc..etc.."

 

wu yia bo yia nobody noes lah.

u wont noe..maybe some sgerans are just tat rich.

 

but to earn 20k just to effort a 3 series is abit funny. unless he is talking abt 335 or m3 lah

There are some among us that earns $20K but drives a Civic too. Cos buying an expensive car is a waste of $ (since it will always depreciate and never appreciate). Especially if buying brand new instead of 2nd hand. IMHO of course.
