my intercooler are dirty with oil and sludge

it is advisable to use a degreaser (spray type) to spray on the intercooler/radiator/aircon radiator/oil cooler and etc, then use water to spray away?

should i use spray the degreaser when:

(1) engine is hot

(2) engine is warmed down (after 1 or 2 hours of rest)

(3) engine is cold

No experience with this.

Can only offer general advise : degreaser usually contain solvent/volatile liquid, and for safety, use only when engine is cold. Check out the instructions on the degreaser package/can, usually contain some safety instructions.

I have been thinking of using those aircon aerosol cleaner on my radiator, but still hesitating.

i think if you spray water when hot you risk cracking it due to sudden cooling
