Ev0lutionz Clutched December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 Use Mandai road? I suspect Lornie will be jammed in the morning. As well as KPE. CTE dont talk about it.

TangoElite 6th Gear December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 depends on time, in terms of FC it is either option 1 or 2 1 should be better, more on expressway, unless ur place nearer to kpe than cte and shorter by 3km also
KVR666 Neutral Newbie December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 Depends on timing. If morning peak hour, rather take KPE - ECP - Telok Blangah fly-over - West Coast Highway - Clementi Road. KPE usually only jam from entrance till Airport Road exit or slightly further. AYE don't need to think about it, sure jam from Normanton till Clementi Road exit. If non-peak hour, Lornie Road route is always my first choice. Just have to battle a few extra traffic lights, especially the one at the junction of Serangoon Road & Braddell Road. Deividz 5th Gear December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 Option 3, followed by option 1 then 2. Basically, nearly every road is jammed in the morning so I'll choose one that is the shortest. Also, depends on the time that you drive, most expressways got to pay ERP somemore.

Nolicense Turbocharged December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 Those highlighted are potential FC Ruiners :( during peak hour sure jam one. LL. but for CTE the stretch from AMK Ave 3 to Ave 1 is 2 lanes and little traffic. peak hour also still quite fast. lornie on the other hand is just crap. If have to up, best is join from Thomson side.

Wllim Neutral Newbie December 9, 2009 Author Share December 9, 2009 Recently has some debate with my friend regarding FC. Let's me share some more insight. My office hour is quite flexible. So, I usually leave home around 9:30am and go by NON-expressway route - Option 3. My FC is around 9.2KM/litre. Obviously, option 1 can only be the choice if ERP is not in operation during my traveling. For the ease of reference, i will call Option 2 as Express and Option 3 as Normal. My colleague was trying to argue that "Express" is a better choice compare to "Normal". His agreement is simple, expressway no traffic light -> less stop -> car can travel at constant speed ===> So consume less FC. But, "Express" is almost 30% longer in distance compare to "Normal". So, is it true that "Express" can only be better if my vehicle can achieve at least 30% more distance per litre while traveling on expressway? Please comment That would be at least 12KM/litre for my Qashqai leh. Possible? I doubt...
Passion 5th Gear December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 In this case,I would suggest you go by Lornie Road.Lornie by this time shouldn't be congested. If take option 1,first ERP is expensive,it'll negate all the saving. No need to go up to 90km/h for vehicle to be fuel saving.Around 70km/h or so is good enough.Anyway,it's hard to hit 70km/h on CTE at that point of time.As for KPE,you can use around 9.30 as i believe traffic should be smooth.the 3km more is very minimal. Sleepy-T 1st Gear December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 (edited) Which route will you choose if you going to travel from Hougang to NUS - In term of FC? Option 1: Hougang Ave 2 -> AMK Ave 3 -> CTE -> AYE -> NUS ---------- About 25.1 KM = high chance of getting into traffic jam, so plus waiting time and slow speed will take longer and higher FC Option 2: Hougang Ave 7 -> Tampines Rd -> KPE -> ECP -> AYE -> NUS ---------- About 28.2 KM = slow traffic will be expected in the KPE but once you hit ECP will be OK, but moderate traffic will be expected in AYE till reach NUS. Option 3: Hougang Ave 2 -> AMK Ave 3 -> AMK Ave 6 -> Lornie Rd -> Adam Rd -> Farrer Rd -> Commonwealth Ave -> Clementi Rd -> NUS ---------- About 22.4 KM.= Sorry never try b4 Edited December 9, 2009 by Sleepy-T
Windchoco 1st Gear December 10, 2009 Share December 10, 2009 Option 2 cos u can cruise control @70km/hr at KPE, which is one of the most fuel efficient. CTE is a jam place in the mornings.
