Wow! Didn't know that he was a success in europe. Wonder what would have happened if he did actually sign for Ajax

What a waste that SG's best footballer don't really have anything to show for at the end of his career.

All i can say is that he got the luck to go far in football and got the necessary people to back him up.He is just plain lucky just like any other players who plays for S'pore. If you ever play for any football club in S'pore just like me you will say the same thing too.

yeah bring back the malaysia cup please.

the s-league is not working, hasn't gotten us to the world cup, and a failure financially and sportingly.

one malaysia cup match with a 40,000 crowd makes more money than an entire s-league week, gives more mileage to advertisers, improves ties with neighbours, good for bonding etc etc.

sometimes i just don't understand how the elites think

1994 was Singapore's last year of involvement in the Malaysian competitions, as the Football Association of Singapore decided to withdraw and focus on developing its own domestic tournaments.

Hahaha, your interpretation of what happened back then is just so funny and one-sided...

[sweatdrop]

I remember it was the other side wanting to raise fees for playing in the M-league; and after some considerations our side pulled the plug.

Is this what the ST says? Need to read the newspapers on both sides of the causeway to get the 'real' story [rolleyes]

He's doing okay lah... Now as coach of Indo Super League club, he's doing quite well, IMHO - provided with landed property to stay in, driver, house-help, etc. all paid for - in addition to big US$ (not rupiah, okay) salary. And he's winning as well, so what's there to worry career-wise?

After we won the Malaysia Cup last in 1994 with Abbas and Alistair, the FAM could not take it lying down so they came up with accusation of bribing and corruptions. It was as if before that, the competition was very clean.

I think the last straw was when FAM decided that they want to look at FAS book.
