Rickster 5th Gear November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 Been hearing from many places that tires that are not made in their country of origin are inferior. Y is that so? Isn't the compound used & manufacturing processes automated? Can anyone pls enlighten? ↡ Advertisement
Help1 1st Gear November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 manufacturing process is the same, i believe as the companies need to achieve constant result or even exceed, there is a need to maintain ISO standards, quality and expectations. compound used may different as it cater for different regions and climate. Nowadays we are talking abt globalisation, reducing operating cost and increase revenue. for example, michelin is going to open a plant in India that solely manufacture tyres for India use only. Ichibawa 5th Gear November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 I would say the attention to details differ as such the attitude and the mentality of the employee is important.
Kb27 Supersonic November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 I think it's more on the market segmentation. When you are selling to India, or ASEAN countries, cheap is the highest priority. Therefore the formula, the process will be different to "cater" to the target market, in this case. CHEAP. So performance functionality takes lower priority. Toyo 1st Gear November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 (edited) No differences to me except price. Tire are not hand made so not really critical on the manufacturing country. Beside, i thk Thailand is also quite established in automotive production Edited November 25, 2009 by Toyo

I suppose you mean different tire models? Wondering if the same theory also applies to same model, but made in different places.

Beside, i thk Thailand is also quite established in automotive production Thats why i'm puzzled becos tires are 100% machine made, unlike cars, whereby you will still need humans to do part of the assembly & testing. The only possible reason I see now is as what bro Help1 has mentioned - slightly different compounds used according to the intended place of use. Leepee 1st Gear November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 Maybe tyres made in tropical countries are meant for that. Like chocolate from europe will melt immediately when you reach singapore. I never buy chocolates anymore since one lesson were my clothings were stained due to the melted chocolate I bought from germany! Maybe Europe tyre compound are mixed for cooler weather, which explains why they grips better in our hotter weather. Indo and thai tyres are mixed for hotter temperature, so maybe its harder and last longer, and not as grippy. Maybe only...I think....I might be wrong lah. Liping... u hav any idea if u put a kit-kat that you buy from NTUC now and put it into ur pocket, it will also melt?
Leepee 1st Gear November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 IF I put on my Breast pocket, it will not melt. If I put it near my crouch pocket, maybe it might get squashed, but not melt. The kit kat in Singapore is more heat resistance compared to the european ones!! The chocolate I bought from Germany was already melted when I unpacked my luggage after reaching home. Zyrofillica 1st Gear November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 bought from spain before. Came back fine. In fact the low temperatures in the baggage compartments on the airplane back would help in keeping the chocs nice and frosty. Maybe you put your choc in your "Crouch" pocket which was heated by dark energy of the universe because you bought dark chocolate.
Pchmj Clutched November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 Next time just buy some chocolates from europe, and then tell me how fast it melts when you reach singapore. Got to depend on the type of chocolate? My colleagues always travel to europe and buy chocolates back, no melting problem.
Fcw75 Hypersonic November 25, 2009 Share November 25, 2009 (edited) Maybe she always stick the chocolate between her arse that's why melt so fast....and stained her clothing. Edited November 25, 2009 by Fcw75
