For me personally, if I don't need very precise search...I typically use yahoo before I prefer the user interface. If I need a precise search, I go for google.

Before google, the most precise search engine is Alta Vista....

 

During yahoo's glorious days, there are also excite, hotbot and Lycos.

 

So this means....nothing last forever.....google may fade into oblivion if a newer and better engine comes out.
