Ethene 1st Gear November 5, 2009 Share November 5, 2009 Hi bros, am driving a '95 civic ek4m. It had been raining heavily past few days and it's only then i found out that rain water will leak into my car boot and through my driver door. Driver door - Not very significant but a few drops of water will be seen dripping down occasionally. Ive visually checked the door rubber lining and it doesn't seems to have any tear or deformaty. Car boot - Water will leak into the boot throught the 2 sides. After checking i suspect that water is leaking through the 'handle' part that holds the car boot cover. I'm not sure if its the rubber lining as well. Need advice in solving this problem. Be it D.I.Y or any recommended workshop that can fix this. The only worry is that even if i go fix this at the workshop, i cannot check if the problem is solved because the leakage will only happen when there's heavy rain or when i parked the car under the rain for long hours. Thanks !!! ↡ Advertisement

WTF 4th Gear November 5, 2009 Share November 5, 2009 Sorry I don't know any such workshop. When my friend's previous ride had the same problem at the boot, the AD quoted him quite ex. Then he decided to change his ride since it was already 4.5 yrs old anyway.
Watwheels Supersonic November 5, 2009 Share November 5, 2009 (edited) The rubber lining by now should have harden and lost its characteristics(after 14 years). Changing them should solve the problem. Visually you can't see it, dun kid yourself. Edited November 5, 2009 by Watwheels

Watwheels Supersonic November 5, 2009 Share November 5, 2009 Thanks, youve any workshop to recommend? I dun have any particular workshop to recommend cos usually I ask a few to get some quotes before deciding. Anyway replacing the rubber lining dun require much skill. Maybe you can source from parts distributor, for Honda I think it's Tanly Motor. If they are able to source the lining, maybe you can DIY. Not very difficult cos I remove my car's door lining and put it back in place before. As for Tanly motor, you can search for the contact online, maybe using greenbook. Kopi_peng Neutral Newbie November 6, 2009 Share November 6, 2009 How wet does your boot get? You shd check the whole boot as my old car used to have holes covered by sticker in the boot. Once a sticker was gone and then water came and flood the spare tire well. Since yours is a old car, maybe some of the stickers/plugs came off too. Civic6656 1st Gear November 6, 2009 Share November 6, 2009 (edited) Have your car been rear ended before? It normally happens to those repairs not done properly. FYI, water also can leak through your rear lights. Check if the rubber seals on your rear lights are worn or harderned. During dry season, you can try pouring water above your rear lights continuously flowing while checking from inside if water seeps through that area (with boot opened of course). Mine no spare tires and the 2 side of the boot will be wet. After self investigation, water seems to be coming from the 'hindges' that hold the boot cover. Very difficult to find the source also... btw how do you check for the holes youve mentioned?
