Test drove a Mazda3 2.0L 2 days ago for 45mins on the AYE. Under powered? Defintely not. Noisy? Nope. In fact i think its the contrary. Comparing to a BMW 320i..The Mazda3 car accelerates nicely and responsive to every gear shifts. And less drag. The mazda3 2.0L doesn't feel heavy too. Seriously...after following the forum here i really have no expectations about the car before the test drive...but now i think the car is a good buy. Especially when Mazda is giving heavy promotions for the M3 2.0L. So I suggest for those who're deciding a Mazda3..Pls take a test drive. Its indeed a wonderful car.

agree. the handling is different from other jap/korean sedans.

Often I find myself zooming through the bends & enjoying it.

Moreover, there is the continental feel which can only be found in mazda.

I am still driving mz3 & enjoy every minute of it.

FC not as bad as perceived, ranging from 13+ to 15+ km/l.

Are you sure??? 13~15km/L?? [:p]

yes, it is possible, depending on how you drive it.

In fact, after I did engine flushing, my FC is consistently from 13-15+ km/l.

And my ride is coming to 4 years old.

Now I know FC is about the driver, not the car.

why not? Unless you can have another jap/kor ride which can handle as well & give you that continental-like feel? [:p]

i ever tried to drive a toyota before & the feel is so different.

i like Mz3 (prev version) but not the 1.6 version or the current ver. of smiling face.... handling not bad, conti feel... nice interior but suck in the performance aspect...

when i source for my first ride, i go for Mz3...did a test drive and only realise the car move off like turtle.... tap and no go!! i was like WTF!!!

If only they bring in MPS version, couple with a better gearbox... :(

I be interested in hear which current car you think is better in handling, conti feel, nice interior/exterior and fantastic in the performance within the 1.6 price category of current Mazda3? If you want everything good in a car it's going to cost more.

You should try flooring it...it does better than turtle [rolleyes]

Nice exterior is a little subjective - find it looks average bordering on ugly. The rear still looks decent though.

It is a just decent jap car, overhyped by the distasteful "drive slowly to let others admire" ads.

My experience is a bit more different..

Mazda 6 and Honda Accord JDM (previous versions).

I find it strange that Mazda keep promoting their Mazda 6 as sporty. It is a very well built car with a good engine but compared to the Honda Accord JDM, in terms of sportiness and frugality, the Accord wins by a mile. But the build quality of the Mazda 6 is much better.

Ditto bro. I find that it might be wise to keep harp on the sportiness or whatever sportiness the Mazzie 6 has, as its strong point. Why not bank on the fact that it is riding on a platform shared with the Ford Mondeo? The Mondeo is not a hotcake in the Uk for nothing.

Agree and they all price way too high compared to Mazda3.

Good choice on passat 2.0T [thumbsup]

If I could remember, Top gear once said something like if the car is so slow, smooth handling is almost expected of it [:p].

I used to drive a Ford Focus. Nothing great about the handling if you can't go fast. Test drove the previous version of Mondeo, rough engine note at high speed. I suppose the latest model is of marked improvement.

Well agree the look is subjective but your definition of look is definitely not the majority. My statement is based on overall package and not just the look. Yes there are other cars that look better but cost and other area? Again you name me a car that is "better in handling, conti feel, nice interior/exterior and fantastic in the performance within the 1.6 price category of current Mazda3?"

Sure the 1.6 version is not your race car but for everyday driving it is quite good. What do you expect for a heavy (1.3 ton) car on a non turbo 1.6 engine?

Well i rather have a nice fresh looking car than something that is otherwise..
