These are what I observed.

  • Bus journeys seem to be taking longer.
  • Buses like to cruise at a speed that feels like 2km/h
  • Whenever they see a green light ahead of them, they will wait until they turn red.

And garmen never say anything about this. Only talk about wanting to increase ERP again.

I find some of them a little faster than before actually. But then, still rather slow, although maybe I'm too used to HK buses.

Recently took a bus from Tampines to Balestier, took 1.5 hour to reach. If I were to drive or take a taxi, it takes me only 20 minutes or even less. I won't say the public transport system in Singapore is unacceptable, but they have room for improvement in many areas.

Lol I'm talking about the double-deckers, not the mini-buses! They are quite fast here, but also because the routes are generally more well-planned and traffic less chaotic (except for downtown Kowloon). Taking buses here on average is only 15 min to half hour longer time than driving, even without a "give way to buses" law!

Thanks - saw the contest and just nice I actually wrote these reviews as part of a private journal so all I did was copy and paste [laugh]

i think our buses contribute to traffic jams rather than help lessen it. something must be done to improve this.

too many buses on the different routes ply on the same busy stretches when they are already full.

they should have more express services, less round and round about routes.

They like to slow down even the traffic light ahead is GREEN.

So they always try luck to be asap(as SLOW as possible) just in time to stop when it turns red.

may i offer another perspective, could it be due to safety reasons ??

given the bus weight and inertia of movement, if it chiongs like our normal ride, would it be dangerous if it suddenly jams brake and there're standing passengers who might fall?

juz my opinion from another point of view

On most roads, buses can be how fast only? 40km/h?

Unless they cheong la.~

Jam break also wont fly far one, that's what are the poles for, grab and hang on.

cannot grab, sit down lohh. :p [wave]

from what i know,

drive too fast = arrive early at bus terminal = fine

drive too slow = arrive late at bus terminal = fine

so most drivers chiong for 80% of the route, then they time themselves for the remaining 20%. this is what i personally encountered many many times when i was an avid bus passenger [laugh]

so u tell me, isn't it a LPPL situation?

Then in this case my bicycle must be travelling at 50kmh le

Overtook a bus 55 on the road 2 weeks ago. The bus was travelling to its next bus stop. And the road is straight with no traffic light at all.

slower when normal driving in a lane.

fast like a speeding bullet when swerving into neighbouring lane. i have to be equally fast and jamming brakes as well.. if not confirm accident.

P.S i have jammed more brakes to avoid collision with a bus or avoid the bus trying to collide into me (if u all can tell the difference..) than for taxis.

P.S i dont drive quickly on normal non-expressway roads.
