Roberttan 5th Gear May 4, 2013 Share May 4, 2013 we should appreciate these people help us to solve the problem (at least temporary) why should we concern so much about the cost. those sticky worm which repair tyre from outside is basically just to cover the punctured hole. the advantages is fast and cost less. Disadvantage is we are unable to know is that any secondary injured or demaged intenrally which could lead to sudden tyre failure especially at higher and long distance driving. And the punctured hole could be enlarged during the process of forcing the hole even bigger or crack (old tyre). BEST way of repaire a punctured tyre is get it done only internally which allow you to inspect interanally for any demaged which can not be seen from outside Any puncture on sidewall is NOT repairable and near sidewall or shoulder you got to ask the site opinion. Always remember tyre only fail when is on working condition especially at high speed liog distance driving Tyres are the only 4 contacts

Major part of the "worm" is inside, how to have internal patch then?
Fcw75 Hypersonic May 4, 2013 Share May 4, 2013 Major part of the "worm" is inside, how to have internal patch then? There is a kind of patch that's both internal and external, something in the shape of a thumbtack.

Pms 3rd Gear May 4, 2013 Share May 4, 2013 The thumbtack you referring is called mushroom plug. That is unreliable coz the steel belt of the tyre will cut the stem of the plug after a while because the stem doesnt work like a worm and is not the same rubber compound as the worm. You plug the worm from the outside, from the inside trim the worm and patch over worm.
