Roh96 6th Gear November 2, 2009 Share November 2, 2009 Just wonder how many of you here are weekend parents? I think is getting common nowadays, 3 of my neighbours are all weekend parents. They will leave the kids with ah gong and ah ma on weekdays and only bring them home on Sat and Sun. 1 of the neighbour is lagi best, all the 7 days leave to grandparents to take care, only bring him home on Sat and Sunday afternoon and by evening send the kid back to grandparents. Last saturday i met one ah gong with his few months old granddaughter at the clinic. He complain to me about how lazy his son and daughter-in-law, the baby girl was unwell for 3 days already and yet the parents still can't be bother like that and wait until sat then bring to doc. As uusual when i ask the parents why don't bring your child back, they will say tired and they need to cope with work stress blah blah. I couldn't understand, if raising a kid is so tiring or if career is so important, then why give birth? If they are not willing to sacrifice the sleep, why want to have kid? And they can have the heart to sacrifice the old folks sleep instead. What has the world become? ↡ Advertisement
Lab4games 1st Gear November 2, 2009 Share November 2, 2009 couple of reasons. working these days really hectic and stressful. if OT, there's no time to take care of the kid sometimes it's the grandparents that want to have a grandchild..not necessary the parents themselves want ahgong ahma is their day cum night childcare provider. Tonyhawk 1st Gear November 2, 2009 Share November 2, 2009 (edited) i see my kids daily, or at least try to. one of them stays out 7 days a week. with both sets of grandparents vying for his attention, I have no chance nor priority. forgot to mention i live minutes from either set of grandparents. and yah, they are more than happy to have the grandkid over, in fact, i feel abit left out. haha. Tjkbeluga 5th Gear November 2, 2009 Share November 2, 2009 All I can say is the person that sleeps together with the children is the one that will have the strongest bond with the child. My son sleeps with my mum every night whereas my daughter sleeps with my wife. Then will tend to prefer to sleep with the same person no matter what. Roh96 6th Gear November 2, 2009 Author Share November 2, 2009 I can't think of any good reason why they can't bring their kids home everyday. Only 1 word can decribe them 'Lazy'. Besides all the couples i have seen own a car at least. What is the problem of bring the child back and let the poor old folks have their deserved good rest at night. Moreover some parents even have high blood pressure and yet still need to take care of baby at night. Poor thing man. Slog entire life for children and now still need to slog further for grandchildren.
