BanCoe Hypersonic December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 Hahaha... the old abandoned rusty ship still there... Saw it last March '15, Dec '16 still see it. I always thought Desaru is sun sand and sea , but this one is touting golfing more I guess, anyway nothing great about the sea and its off limits during the moonsoons. Even the hotels are like dated and like not lively, I havent been there for almost over 4 years .... dont know if things have improved, if really improved at all

Kangadrool Supersonic December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 (edited) went to this Restoran Bujang Terapung Sungai Lebam for dinner and fire fly cruise. Google Map is showing permanently closed, but it's still operating. In fact, think it's recently been spruced up looking at the surroundings. Fire fly boat ride is RM20/15 adult/child. Surprisingly, no mozzies. Those not familiar with the area, suggest recce for a dry run in the day time before you head there at night. :DThose with kids, can also have some cheap fun for kids for duck feeding at RM1 per tub of duck food pellets. Feed ducks at where? At Restoran Bulang Terapung Sungai Lebam? Is it near the Desaru resorts? Thanks. I'll google the restuarant for more info. Kangadrool Supersonic December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 (edited) Yup, just outside the restoran. Mini duck pond for kids to have fun while I had siesta at the bench. Place is quite near, less than 10km away from those resorts and fruit farm. Feed ducks at where? At Restoran Bulang Terapung Sungai Lebam? Is it near the Desaru resorts? Thanks. Neutrino Supercharged December 18, 2016 Share December 18, 2016 (edited) https://youtu.be/wkmU5AdvHY8 Huge development ongoing. Wonder when project complete. Should have been done in the 90s. It was going on in the 90s. 27 years ago the development of Desaru started. It was a US $4 Billion project. Yep US $ 4 billion. 12 no 6* hotels 6 Signature golf courses An indoor wind surf Indoor ski slopes 2000 villas Disney World type thingy Bandar Penawar increased to an 80,000 city to provide the workers long term Direct Ferry from Singapore Gas fired power stations using gas from Terengannu fields. Horse riding facility managed by UK Princess Anne's then husband Safari Park etc etc. Construction got underway and I was looking after the golf courses. Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman Gary Player, Nick Faldo and ??? had all been there to see the area they were designing golf courses for. Anyway the Japanese Construction company suddenly realised the potential and wanted to oust the Malaysian American whose idea it was, so 18 months after the job started a legal case started and that was the end of that. Really great idea, years ahead of its time and a pity it never progressed. Edited December 18, 2016 by Neutrino
Victor68 Turbocharged December 27, 2016 Share December 27, 2016 I first drove there some 25 years ago, then the last trip was almost 5 years ago. Surely the sea is not the same anymore (polluted) and more developments. But why go during the Dec raining season? I would avoid the entire east.

Neutrino Supercharged March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 Drove to Desaru today. Didn't know it was the King's birthday. It was jam packed. Very little parking space. But it was worth it for the durians. Stall on side of road near Penawar. Durians from Pontian District. MR28/kg. Dunno variety, maybe just Kampong but the taste and texture were really excellent. Even though they must've seen the car reg my missus waited until some locals went to the stall then overheard the price they were given. Then when we were eating the durians there and then another few groups of Malaysians came to buy and they were all given the same price.

Kangadrool Supersonic May 29, 2017 Share May 29, 2017 All resorts are expensive if the idea of free beach access is ingrained in your mindset. Cheaper is to stay at homestay near beaches and go public beach. But will still need to pay protection $$$ to enter public beach. ↡ Advertisement
