AUDI OR BMW

actually hor, i tink current bmw got more problems than audi. some years back, audi notorious for poor reliability but i tink it has improved a lot with the current batch whereas bmw still quite bad.

my e90 has:

1. windows rattling -0.5 day in worksthop for them to apply black tape on door frame. cheapskate solution.

2. rear differential giving whining sound -1.5 day in workshop to replace it.

3. squeaking seats. sound coming from the plastic parts, esp the cover found at the bottom door side of the seat. not fixed yet.

4. squeak from dashboard when u go over humps. not fixed yet.

5. whining sound from air-con. 2 days in workshop. they changed 3 pulleys due to wear and tear (36000 km nia!) and air-con compressor. sound came back 2 days later!

6. wiper making noise. not fixed yet.

normally, i would have ditched the car since it is only 18 months, 36000 km and yet so problematic. but im hard pressed to find another car within budget (or same price range) that can give me the handling of a bmw, not to mention the badge (im a badge whore as wat some cash rich people calls it), the acceptable comfort and safety of occupants.

as a package, i tink it is best since i put handling slightly higher in priority.

in terms of reliability, it is bad. but no one is perfect. juz like wife. if u love her, u will accept her flaws too.

tis argument of which is better is never ending, juz like comparing one gal to another. each man will have his preference. but most importantly, the single common solution is...............

go with ur heart !

Neutral Newbie

A Happy new year to all of u. Thanks for the feedback for the last few month. Sharing information on conti cars. Presently i feel BMW is still on most peoples mind no doubt the car reliability is in question. Audi is coming back big time. So 2010 will see which one is better. Thanks

I don't think so leh. Also, how can the difference be so huge?

The C&C SEs always preface it by saying that BMW cars got poor resale, when that is clearly not the case as we can see from sgcarmart and checking with other second-hand car dealers. I also checked with a couple of other dealers, and their quotes for my car ranged from $122K to $130K.

I just wonder if this is a directive from C&C to their SEs? If so, they are losing a lot of potential sales to existing BMW owners.

I think those SE still in 90s, haven't realize that it is 2010!!

Handling? Hmmm..... I was at Audi showroom and telling the SE that I was thinking of a BMW, and this was what the SE told me.

"Once a customer came in to check out the Audi, then he claims that the BMW handling was very good. So I took him in the A4 quattro down Kent Ridge, the customer immediately put a downpayment for the car. And since then, the customer never drove a BMW anymore."
