Anyone been to Kota Kinabalu the beach resort there ? Can recommend any good stay which is less than $200 per night ? Or any tour agent that has ? Must be along the beach. Thanks !

Shangri-la Tanjung Aru is a top notch! Price is around 100-150USD/night (Standard) . I went last month , paid almost 200USD coz the standard rooms were fully booked so needed to go for the club floor which was awesome. The club lounge has snack the whole day , plus happy hour with all kinds of drinks and CHEESE platter. Breakfast is a knock-out.

The beach is okay , not THAT beautiful. But the sunset rocks! Very photogenic. I enjoyed staying here lots after rough days on Mt.Kinabalu. Guess I deserved it!!

Last time I went there is during off peak period to do mountain trekking. We just flew to Kota Kinabalu walk around looking for lodging and tour agent(we wanted to go for white water rafting). The tourist counter there is easy to find. Get a brochure at the airport. If you are a seasoned traveller, I dun even have to tell you all this. But bookings from there is defintely much cheaper dan doing it here.

You have to do some of your own homework. With internet it's easy to find.

Thy the resort on Manukan Island. Something different from Shangri-la. Closer to the nature. Very nice beach. Nice Bangalow. Price is about the same as Shangri-la.

you don't really need to book a tour. just buy air tickets to fly there...and find the local travel agents if you need a local guide. i had travel on my own there....language is not a problem for you if u speak malay, mandarin, cantonese or english.

if you want a really nice place to stay....try to book manukan island

its pretty expensive nowadays....but worth every cent.

yea, but bringing my entire clan along, i worry that if upon arrival , all the rooms at the beach are fully booked, then we will end up camping at the beach, which isnt exactly what i call a year end holiday. cannot afford to take this risk ah, rather confirm booking here then go over.
