Rule. Use the he/him method to decide which word is correct.

he = who

him = whom

Examples: Who/Whom wrote the letter?

He wrote the letter. Therefore, who is correct.

For who/whom should I vote?

Should I vote for him? Therefore, whom is correct.

We all know who/whom pulled that prank.

This sentence contains two clauses: We all know and who/whom pulled that prank. We are interested in the second clause because it contains the who/whom. He pulled that prank. Therefore, who is correct. (Are you starting to sound like a hooting owl yet?)

We want to know on who/whom the prank was pulled.

This sentence contains two clauses: We want to know and the prank was pulled on who/whom. Again, we are interested in the second clause because it contains the who/whom. The prank was pulled on him. Therefore, whom is correct.

Incidentally, if we're serious about grammer,

- use 'difference between' rather than 'difference of ',

- sms shortcuts are not cool in written long form,

- 'tis 2 words' should properly be written 'these 2 words' (spell 2 if you're anal), which is another problem with using SMS short forms,

- 'please advice e difference' should be written 'please give advice on the difference' or 'please advise on the difference'. Use a different form of advice/advise depending on whether you use it as a verb or not,

otherwise just getting who and whom right would look pretty odd in this context.... [;)]

Rule of thumb....

1. if sentence end with ?....you generally use who

2. whom = for who. Compare..."he is the guy who save the day, it will sound weird if you say he is the guy whom save the day". However it sounds ok for this: "for who did he save the day for...if not for his wife. Whom did he save the day for....if not for his wife"
