Hows the new Shell petrol?

The way that Shell market the fuelsave seemed to be that they added some kind of lightweight oil for upper cylinder lubrication.

Some people have already been doing this with 2T oil and reported better mileage, but some didn't.

Redline SI-1 also contains UCL.

So I didn't think this was any kind of breakthrough. Just a different way of selling your product to the man-in-the-street.

they have already stated it varies with driving conditions and car model. so dun expect a miracle.

didnt manage to benefit from the $1 petrol cos queue was simply too long...however my frd on a 1.8 Altis mentioned that his FC improved frm a 12/L to a 18/L..... [thumbsup] on Fuelsave 98

from 12L to 18L?? sorry, ur friend told u he saved 12L to 18L per tank? or he saved 12km/L to 18km/L? sorry, just to clarify cos the result is simply unbelievable... anyway, both result is amazing!! its like from improving the FC of a 1.6L car, to a 1L car liao [speechless][speechless][speechless]

for the bros who pump in Mal, the malaysian Shell is also offering the special formulated 95 as well... saw their ads when i passed by shell kiosk over the weekend.

I never was a supporter of any brand of fuel, as long as it got my car going. Rough or smooth, think it depends more on engine oil and regular servicing (or just dumping a V8 into the car and junking the usual I4s).

But I've been using the Fuelsave 98 ever since it came out. Over 2 tanks, my fuel consumption seems to have improved from the usual 6.5km/l to roughly 7.5km/l without any change in driving pattern. This is only 1 reading though, for the 2nd tank of petrol. The previous tank, i.e. the first tank of fuelsave 98 that I pumped, still gave me 6.5km/l. I'll have to monitor it for many more weeks before I can say for sure that there's actually improvement since the best reading I've ever gotten was 9km/l (driving without aircon, t-bars always up, mostly highway, etc).

I don't know about the FC gain - cos I really don't bother about it ..... the way that I drive, FC sure not good one , regardless of petrol brand.

BUT (big but here)

After pumping Shell 98R one full tank, I find that my car more lethargic and feels less powerful.

Now, this is the first time that I am pumping Shell petrol (due to the recent promo), but the difference felt is definitely real.

Engine also felt a bit rougher (in spite of mine being a 6-cylinder).

could it be due to ECU readjusting? Mine was hesitant the first week...but now ok [thumbsup]

Hello bro. If you may allow me to share my humble 2 cents.

my dad didnt manage to pump due to the overwhelming queue yesterday but we pumped before the promo launch.

Weird thing is that, for both cars, both cars had equally 2 tanks of the new Shell Fuel save, Ron 95, and funny thing is, for that total 4 tanks for both cars, it reported a spike in FC. For Sylphy, it increase from 11.2km/l to only 10.5km/l

For the Cefiro, it reported 7.5km/l increase to 6.7km/l.

Maybe it could be the shell too good then my parents zua more petrol, but doesnt really make sense. Now watching out for the 3rd tank.

Jus my humble 2 cents worth! [thumbsup]

increase or decrease?? [confused]

Hey, I felt the same thing too.

Shell 98 is not that good IMHO. Lost power somewhat. And its not just a feeling, I can tell ya.

hmmm... after reading so many bros here saying that after pumping the promo, car feels worse n rough...

could it be cause the petrol station tanks were just filled up? so all the cars that pump on sat have got more air bubbles in them... Cause logically when you pump slower, you get less air in your petrol... just like why you see tankers usually top up stations in the evenings or early mornings when its cooler... cause temp also make difference in the quality of the petrol... read it on some article a while ago...

i used to pump shell years ago... then when v-power was 1st launched in the 90s... i remember it was like a wonder fuel... power!!! maybe not now anymore..

possible reasons...

1) your friend is actually driving a protocol top secret Hybrid Altis...

2) your friend works for shell...

3) your friend bluff you...

4) you bluff us...
