Just curious, does it come with 3rd row air con? [confused]

Personally find it unbearable if sitting on the last row in a hot afternoon without proper ventilation. [sweatdrop]

142?!!! too low

142 is low, yes, but I dun think it will affect the performance because acceleration-wise, it is already an improvement over the old model.

And given the price of the new Wish, PI wish seems to be more attractive.

I bet the Koreans can produce a better MPV wayy better but with 10k less. Too bad its not the Carens.

Especially in terms of build quality. The PI Wish that I sat in, shown in SIN'09, really had bad, agricultural materials.

I didnt know a simple ECU reflash is a "serious mod"

Most production cars nowadays tend to run richer to protect the engine. A simple ecu reflesh will bring out anything from 5 -20 horses depending on make and model. A simple IHE with ecu reflash will bring out 12-20 horses even on the rx8s which are known to be extremely stingy with giving out horses from NA mods.

Dunno pls dont talk until like know thanks.

You are bringing a RX8 into the equation with a MPV? Who doesn't know that the performance can't be optimized without a corresponding modifying with IHE, headers, exhaust and ECU? If these are not serious mod that so be it.

It is good to be humble here. I didn't claim that I know everything but you seem to be the one that knows about eveything. Good for you.

Also need to look at the peak performance quotient, 142bhp at what rpm too. Toyota emphasizes alot on fuel economy so I think the slight dip in bhp is justifiable for them. But if it is a 4AT, then it will be a let down.

IMHO, the future world trend will certainly be towards higher powered hybrid or electric car. So the pressure to produce more fuel efficient car without giving up too much power is getting stronger and stronger.

Yeah. And must look at torque, torque curve, type of engine (square, undersq or oversq), gear ratio, weight of the car, aerodynamics blablabla.

That's why no point blabbing about the 142bhp figure. Go for a test drive and uu will really know whether the Wish is good enough or not.

Unfortunately, the future world trend focus alot on crash safety as well. So if your car is not stiff, and consequently heavy enough, uu will [knife] in a crash.

In my opinion, regardless how good a BM bring in 2L wish. As long as the spec is low than a PI 1.8L wish, something is not right.

Same model with higher cc (=higher road tax), come with a lesser range auto gear, low performance on paper, Higher FC and higher price...........................

If need further mod to become better, than it is even more not worth it [thumbsdown]

Agree. Especially when there's not much lacking in the previous 1.8 Wish in the first place.

tha's why they bring in a low spec wish compared to PIs. this is to lower their cost and make the most porfits. BM has always been like that.

Typical brainless mentality of BM....still think S'poreans are a bunch of goondoons of the good old yesteryear....

But the problem being there is no replacement for displacement.....bigger cc is always nicer to drive....better refinement [thumbsup]

i think they compared the old model 1.8 versus the new model 2.0 (i emphasize i think)

so acceleration-wise confirm better right?

that's what they do with the altis. yet its still selling so well. at 70k for an altis, its sad that its still without the dual vvt-i

In terms of technology to engine & gearbox, you have to trade one for another. Since we all knew previous Toyota's formula of good fuel consumption with the single vvt-i and the auto 4-speed gearbox, they would not want to change much of it cos of rising fuel price concerns. I think we will see that they will stick to this formula even for their next generation of new cars. Maybe they tweak the engine to be more & more fuel saving. It's foreseeable that the 4-speed auto will stick around for quite some time.

Adding in another gear is more difficult dan it seems. Keeping cost down instead of developing a new gearbox is their choice now. Their main draw is still the famed low fuel consumption. That's also why they sell more cars even if it's assembled in Thailand.

If you talking of better FC, a 5spd auto or 6spd auto or even CVT will produce definitely have better FC if used on the same car with same engine.

Even the new Hyundai Tucson is using 6 spd auto already.
